between the lag, shitty raid scene, rampant RMT, hackers, slow moving content, and the fact that this game is already 14 years old, what keeps you hardcore kids playing? this is a serious question, because I, like many of you, love the game. however its just so dreadfully boring once you hit max lvl that i cant bring myself to play for more than a day before uninstalling and going back to the other games i play. what gives?? am i missing something?

Captives generally come to identify with certain aspects of their captors. In this specific case: Pain and Suffering.

Why do people play chess? That has been around for almost 2000 years.

Because it is fun.

Who cares if it is old. It is still fun.

People who go out and buy a game which is essentially the same as many games before it are just caught up in the marketing. EQ classic has almost the perfect balance of difficulty / Fun and re-playability.

People still uninstall games in 2013 when their HDDs are multiple terabytes?

i dont mean what draws you to eq in general. my question is more directed at the people that have been here for awhile and stay through all the bullshit. i understand what makes this game fun, its just after maxxing out, getting bis, and attempting to raid, what else is there?

In all honesty, I feel like the first time you play, you get this magnificent MMORPG high, then you spend the next 14 years trying to chase it. This may not be the case for every hardcore player but I think it was the case with me. Ain't nothing like the first time.

Alts, mainly.

Every now and then I'll play my main to get a chunk of plat to spend on new alts.

Thinking about rerolling a new main for Velious. I can't see myself playing the same toon I've been playing for the past 3 years anymore. I need something new.

I was in a really bad accident, previous to this i had been going to pharmacology school and about to graduate. I had played everquest when I was a teenager and really enjoyed it. While I had outgrown video games as an adult after my accident everything changed and I am no longer mobile and have had to find new and old things to keep me from going insane. Everquest gives me that mobile feeling and friendship that I am lacking in "real life" due to my injurys.

For that I will always be greatful to Rogean.

I play mostly because of the people. Even though some of them come and go there are always new friends to be made (or new people to hate).

Plus, my mom plays and we live too far apart to see each other often so playing eq is one way we get to "hang out" together.
