Newsflash, getting a job in Law is much like getting a job in ANY field nowadays, the people who know people will always fare better than the people who don't. /thread
going to have to disagree as a software engineer i feel like a 1st round draft pick in the nfl with the amount of offers i got coming out of school

sorry for the tl;dr
Those numbers are slightly inflated because they count total bar exams passed in New York State (your able to practice in 3-4 other states with your N.Y Bar License) so not everyone actually ends up working here.
i encourage you to read the article i linked
Every state in the U.S. but Wisconsin and Nebraska (plus Washington, D.C.) is producing many more lawyers than it needs.
In fact, across the country, there were twice as many people who passed the bar in 2009 (53,508) as there were openings (26,239).
A separate estimate for the number of lawyers produced in 2009 also showed a surplus (44,159 new law grads compared with 26,239 openings).
tl;dr = it doesnt matter, every state in the entire U.S. is vastly overproducing lawyers by atrocious margins
good career prospects are all about growth in openings and deficits in people certified to perform that job
some states are worse than others, and you happen to live in the particular worst state in the U.S. as far as surplus lawyers, but it's ugly anywhere you go
My degree is a dual pre-law/paralegal studies so that I will be able to get a job working at a corporate law firm that requires you have a bachelors degree (which most paraglegals don't). It's a great thing to fall back on because just a quick search of mean paralegal salary in NYC shows that its a great career to start in.
okay but we are talking about working as an attorney here. if you don't want to work in a job that requires a JD, then don't get one. if you could do that job without a JD, then do that. you'd be much better off for it, and potentially owe $100,000s less in loans (assuming you are taking loans)
P.S I'm genuinely curious as to what your profession is Stinkum?
on a whim i took the LSAT a few years ago without 1 minute of studying and did fairly decent (165), so i thought i might have a knack for law and considered law school briefly
after doing the necessary preliminary research of job prospects and talking to recent law school grads, i quickly decided fuck that shit

Job Outlook
Employment of computer programmers is expected to increase 12 percent from 2010 to 2020, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Since computer programming can be done from anywhere in the world, companies often hire programmers in countries that have lower wages.
You also get what you pay for.
Then you end up paying more for it because you have to employ them longer to get things done if ever.
Then you're out a lot of money, have to go through the hassle of firing them, getting their passwords, equipment, documentation (list rolls out the door) and have to pay a more locally based consulting company (read: compentent programmers with respectable salaries) to either try to refactor the mess and/or build it over again... at times nearly or completely from scratch.
Law school is definitely academic PvP but that depends where you go. The tough schools are VERY cut throat.
Speaking of people with respectable salaries or RL accomplishments, The Big Hawk is definitely didn't have 16 hours a day to EQ it up... not exactly Nihilum material. He's also probably terrible at EQ PvP, so maybe there's some room to discuss his app. Don't hold your breath.

The tough schools are VERY cut throat.
Interestingly, this trend is changing. The top schools are moving to pass/fail systems with the occasional smiley face and "good job!" sticker. For example, Despite its #1 rank, Yale is one of the least competitive schools, and it's actually a very collective community. They don't even rank the students within each class or graduate with honors with the theory being that "You went to Yale you already won." (The penis-measuring at Yale happens when it's time for clerkships)
You still see some fierce competition at the very top (Columbia, Georgetown, Cornell), but most of the competition happens at the lower ranked tier-1 schools like Baylor, and in the third-tier-toilet. For the lower ranked tier-1's that are still considered "good," like Baylor, only the top 4-5 PEOPLE get the biglaw positions and that's what sets it off.
For the 3rd/fourth tier schools people fight super hard to get those elusive upgrade transfers. If you can end up as #1 or 2 in your class at a 3rd tier, you can often transfer to a T14. In Texas, the holy grail is the UT transfer which is more difficult to get than a Harvard transfer if you're applying from out of state.

Part of this is true, you can have any degree you want, if you are fucking stupid you will never get or hold a real job, and a degree wont change much.

Tbh I'm almost with Agatha on this one however...
Some people go to school because they like what they want to learn. Not because of a big fat paycheck. For example, Tolkien liked language so he went to learn about language, not to become a millionaire. He rubbed elbows with the right people, made a language, wrote a few books. Enjoyed his life (I imagine).
However university in America is simply a pedigree system. Not many people go to actually learn shit. And most come out brainwashed as fuck. It's sad. End of story.

Bad troll is bad, doesn't suite you. Also I was caught, so no need to run off spilling super secret haxxing info mang. Stop being jealous and come back with something else like bla bla you play a 14 year old elf simulator or IMMERSION LEVEL TOO HIGH DETECTED. listen,
if the game lets you physically bind yourself there, then you can, and are allowed to bind there.
If the game does not let you physically bind yourself there, then you can not, and are not allowed to bind there. (the ONLY exception that will ever exist is the firepot room in TD)
it really truly is not that hard to understand.
