Since no one is smart enough to actually figure out what has really happened I figure I'll go ahead and just tell everyone myself. This way there isn't any confusion, nor will anyone else take credit for the fall of The Platlord.
-Nordenwatch, you just happened to be thrown into the middle of it because you had one thing that I wanted. A Troll Bard. You were so dazzled by the pixels you were getting that you didn't think about what was really going on. You were nothing more than a fucking puppet for me to search for things without using my IP / machine. As for that Ranger account - You gave me the Emulator Info, not the Server Login. But you were stupid enough to make the Server info the same as the Emulator info, but with a "1" at the end. I changed the info, because I decided I was just going to go ahead and buy the thing from you for the agreed price. But I was banned before I could make the payment. Had you not started all this bullshit, and waited patiently for me to respond to your PM's I probably would have just changed the info back and given the account back to you. Which I will still do, if you publicly appologize to me, and have the GM's agree to unban the account. (Note: I do not want the thing, I don't plan on playing here anymore.)

Now that the whole "stolen account" incident is cleared up. Here is what has happend to Stabbyjoe:

I led the guild Flawless Victory with Knightt. I've known the guy for several years here on P99 and considered him a very good friend. I knew about the old Bruize situation, but he assured me that he was out of the "RMT" business and was keeping away from illegal activities as to not get any of his characters banned.
Recently I had been informed of some "suspicious activities" by anonymous players that accused Knightt of being involved with The Platlord. I figured since the GMs weren't able to do anything about the situation that I would take it upon myself to investigate.
Since I had several of Knightt's account infos, I was able to figure out his P99 Forum Account password. I look through it all. Nothing. I think to myself "Well he probably isn't dumb enough to use P99's forums for anything illegal on the server.". So I check to see which email address is linked to his P99 Forum Account. Sure enough, the password works! After digging through the email account for a bit I find something very, very interesting. A spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is a list of pretty much any item you can imagine in game (droppable only), with a platinum price, username/login, and item name. Also on this spreadsheet was a list of accounts that had a large number of platinum on them. So I say "No, this couldn't be!". So I check a few of the accounts. Sure enough, almost all of them had what they said they had.
The next part is where I fucked up. I had heard from several people which I had thought to be "reliable" that told me about a few methods of transfering platinum and items that was undetectable by the admin. So I take a pile of shit. I mean a large, very large, extremely large pile of shit. I used some of it to get two very nice, very rare accounts. Then I used some of it to gear / Epic these very nice characters.
After fiddling around for a while, I realize, "This game isn't really fun anymore once you have everything imaginable".
Then I realize what all this "RMT" is doing to the server itself. What it did to the guild Flawless Victory, ect. So I decide to do what is really right. I turn the information over to the GMs. (By the way, if you've never actually got to sit down and talk to Sirken and Ephi for a while, they're some pretty cool, very smart guys.) But of course, out of greed, I didn't tell them about all of the platinum / items that I had stole.
So they get to their investigating and banning, and link some of the accounts to my machine. Boom, there goes Stabbyjoe. There goes Mythoxxus. There goes Napkin. There goes all of my massive platinum accounts. There goes all of my accounts, period.
You people can try to say "Well if I found all those accounts, I would've turned them in right away!". But that would make you a fucking liar.
You can flame me all you want, but 9999/10000 would've done the same thing that I did, but probably without turning in the information to try to actually help the server.
For those of you who think the GMs are dumbasses, you're wrong. They know a lot. They're a lot smarter than you think.
I won't be playing here anymore, because I know a little too much about this place now. But you are all very welcome for me assisting the GMs in getting rid of The Platlord. Hopefully getting rid of one of the RMTers will be a warning to the rest, and will restore the economy here, atleast a little.

BTW, norden spoke to me about sending you PMs, and that he knew you read them because he saw you log on and "reading private messages" via your user page.

I am sure by the tone of his PMs you could tell he was in a panic, why not just send him a quick PM letting him know you intended to pay him or whatever your intention was? It is reasonable to think that after a couple days of not hearing from you that he would go to the GMs.

Its just rumor but i have heard some of his items are dupes, i mean multiple prenerf fungi staves? im sure the devs could look up loot history but theres gotta be like 10 on the server and this guys hoarding 3? little fishy

It does suck but there have been a lot of accounts banned many of them with guised characters etc. shame to lose them but thats the owners choice.

theoretically if someone wanted they could buy every manastone in game then delete them just for the sake of it, cant really ask the gm's to reimburse the server even though it would suck...

I actually asked sirken a while ago about buying confiscated items and he kinda avoided the question, but maybe it's time to do something about it. Especially since by definition its the really rare items that the RMTers go after.

Also Stabbyjoe: making yourself out to be the good guy here is ludicrous. You stole items from a friend who trusted you. You then went nuts trying to buy up a few awesome accounts and you would have succeeded if you weren't such a compulsive account thief that you just had to try to hack the emu password. Nord was simply trying to profit off your pixel orgasm. Which he would have done if he had been slightly more careful in his password selection, and as is he still picked up one of the best items in the game. So I'm pretty sure he's not the loser here.

GM's have in the past distributed plat from RMT accounts to the server. When Alovia was in the arena and everyone had to kill her, I believe she handed out plat that from recovered from RMT. So to say it wont happen again isn't true. As far as the items, I'm sure it's something they could do if they wanted, but a the same time some of the items need to be investigated to see if they were duped or not. GM's will not give away duped items on the server.

Concerning Stabbyjoe / hellowelfare678 ...He offered allot of plat for some nice accounts which now in turn made people believe they could really get that for their accounts. I was told to "Name my price" with my druid account so he set the bar really high, in term making other people discouraged to place a bid. He hurt the server by taking what was already a bad thing and making it worse using the plat for self gain. I'm glad he is gone from the server and it would have really sucked to see my druid get banned as well if he would have bought it.

So the best way I could think to handle it if they wanted to. Set a fixed price on an item such as 2 mil for pre-nerf fungi which seems to be the ball park of their value?

Then just have whoever wants to buy it ./random and top 3 get right to buy it.

Then you get 3 fungi back into circulation as well as 6mil plat removed so it helps keep rare items around as well as puts an additional dent in the server inflation.

Add in this alleged bag of mana stones (8-10 stones?) at ~225k a pop you could pull another ~2 mill out of circulation.

Krayze is threatening to turn over his records to the authorities who would then, in theory, be obliged to pursue the matter as a criminal case under 18 USC 2701 which was cited earlier. In all probability, he'll be met with a roll of the eyes and the case would go nowhere. If he tries to sue the "hackers" civilly, he'll be forking over a lot of $ upfront to the lawyer taking the case, if he can even find one to take it.

The costs involved in any case would be large, and his threats of legal action are meaningless puffery born of frustration and embarrassment.

I only say it because when Kunark launched is when Marley broke his foot and went into EQ hardcore mode and was in Fungi camp daily with the IB guys. 2 staffs dropped in that time, Marley didn't win either of them therefore defaulting to an IB member. Karsten could probably attest to how many hours they logged in fungi as every time Marley told me he was there, Karsten was in the group.

Just wanted to chime in and keep my name clear. I have been playing here for about 2 years. I did plenty of farming during that time and when I moved to red I was up to about 260k plat, all earned through farming spore king mostly, and I had / still have a bunch of pretty well gear alts. I left blue99 for a number of reasons...for one i was bored I had 2 level 60 characters with everything they could get without being part of the horrible raid scene here, I also had a falling out with a really good friend over a stupid edge of the nightwalker that we farmed, and lastly I knew about the filth that was taking place in the guild i made my home and I wanted to get away from it. I would have just quit playing here altogether but a friend of mine, Eldu, had recently moved to red and was constantly talking about how much more fun he was having there, So I moved over there, traded off most of my platinum and several of my nicer items for some stuff to help me get started on red.

They dont really have an RMT detection method

Why? Because its impossible to trace transactions back all the way.

Just because an empty transaction for 500k occurs doesnt mean it was necessarily RMT. It could have been an account sale, it cold have been a mule transfer, it could have been a guild bank transfer so all they can do is speculate.

There was no RMT ban wave. All they did was banned accounts linked to Platlords spreadsheets. People who bought from the other RMTers are completely safe (though I suspect some of them are directly linked to PL anyway)

I can get to level 1-10 in 3 minutes flat. I can solo a Sand Giant at 15. I could potentially under the right conditions solo any raid mob in the game.

I can make a melee character that is literally unkillable. I can walk through walls... and those are just the MINOR exploits that I have access to, and they aren't detectable either, at all.

I could blow this server wide open if I wanted to.

not true... they may not have a system implemented but it's not as hard as you think to account for every item/cp and path it takes. using shell accounts and trying to not have patterns leaves a pattern itself. it really comes down to who really cares this much to write the algorithms to do it.
