Phantasy Star IV on release was $100. Most expensive I've bought new. As far as owning, quite a few old SNES and S.Famicom original rpg carts, including FF 4 and 6, Tales of Phantasia, Secret of Mana and Evermore, both Lufia's, Lagoon, many others. Not sure if they are all valuable, but to me they are, old school rpgs for life.

Meant to add this in the last one, damn, but found these when I came home from Japan in my storage.

I wish I had the original ps1 with the black backing on the disc and all. Buddy won't let it go, and I didn't buy my own FFT until it was a greatest hits :(

Fortunately Tecmo's Deception was cheap to get my own copy of off the web from some goodwill store in california... lol.

Wow, that post made me go check ebay. I still have my old Final Fantasy 3, Chrono trigger and Secret of mana sns titles. Can't believe they sell for what they do on ebay.

Is Earthbound really $200 now? I remember buying it in Walmart used for like $12.

I got robbed for Earthbound when I was in highschool, it still pisses me off when ever I see how much it is worth.

earthbound would have to be worth a million dollars for me to sell that game. I still play it every year.

I have the original FF tactics for PS1, is it really worth something?

I think EQ is the most expensive game I've ever owned if you factor in implicit cost... I mean, even if I were to be making $5/hr....

|Castle Wolfenstein: (commodore 64) - 5 1/4 floppy. I think I may still have the slim box it came in though there were no printed covers for it at the time.
|Final Fantasy 1 for the (nes)- not worth a lot according to ebay but I loved it.
|Dragon Warrior I-IV (nes): Probably among the best of my rpgs for the nes.
|Everquest: (pc) from original thru titanium and buying every damn expansion along the way just to have it shoved in my face that new players to the game could just buy Titanium and get an all in one. (estimated cost @ 29.95 per exapsnion x 10 expansions and the original 34.95.)
|CoD Black Op's (ps3) : with all the damn 10$ addons :(
|Decathalon (Atari 2600) : I include this in the pricey section because I went thru countless controllers- and buddy those weren't cheap even back in the day.
|Mortal Kombat (snes): The best of all the mortal kombats and yeah F the genesis!
|Goldeneye 64 (n64): Included because I've constantly bought new copies from playing the shit out of or losing previously owned ones.
|Final Fantasy 7-XII [excluding 11] (ps-ps3): all great, never gonna get rid of em. I still enjoy goofing around on those.

that's it for me.

all of the values I've come up with are my own personal idea and I never did try to sell or get an estimate on most of them.

I have my original 4 3.5" floppies for Hero's Quest by Sierra. They quickly changed the game title to Quest for Glory in later runs as "Hero's Quest" was also a board game around the same time and trademarked. I wonder if those original disks are worth anything; especially given they're from the originally-named early distribution.

I remember running them on a DOS emu where I could drastically slow the processor a few years back.

I have my original NES cart for Dragon Warrior, my first RPG. I have the box and manual. I have no idea what happened to all my others.

I also have an original FFT. Hell, I've ripped it and am able to play it on my smart phone now... which I just love. I usually play it once per year.

If you wanna talk coins... I have a better list...

Nostalgia is the only thing that makes these worth so much... instead of paying 200 bucks for an snes cartridge, get with the times and use an emulator.

I've got a ton of my favorite older games on my psp now, I love it. Final fantasy tactics and kings field 1 & 2 top that list. Can put em on my phone and bluetooth connect a PS3 controller to it as well, but there isn't much point with the psp handy.

Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, and Earthbound would be my valuable ones. However as was said earlier in the thread, I replay them every couple years and probably wouldn't sell them.

It's weird.. growing up A Link to the Past was my favorite Zelda, especially until Ocarina, but for some reason nobody ever talked about.. all they would talk about were Ocarina and the Original for NES.. now everyone is nerding out super hard about ALTTP everywhere I read.

DOES NOT COMPUTE

Still cringe when I remember selling my Earthbound to Gamestop over 15 years ago for maybe ~20$.

I saw it was just released on virtual console through Wii in Japan yesterday. I hope they do the same for the USA as I would snap buy it.

Those are just a small sample, so many good titles tossed around in here so far. My all time favorites would still be Crystalis (my first 'rpg') and Dragon Quest 3, I have the original 1-4 carts for NES. Back when rpgs were difficult, and dying was a terrible loss of time as you got near the end of dungeons. I don't really count anything newer than SNES/Genesis though, it all got even more mainstream that it was and fan hype made a lot of games seem better than they were.

Ohhhh Dunno how valuable it is, but Super Mario RPG is one of the best games of all time as well. I have that shit - double Lazy Shell ftw.

Wonder if these are worth anything? Got these back in 1989 I think during my freshman year in college...man I burned up so many hours on this damn game.

Look at the specs!
