I agree.
I think there's an additional disconnect because the illiberal left and Trumptards are the only people who can't seem to tell the difference between Twitter and real life. The left you see on Twitter is not real. And by not real, I mean they don't vote and don't do any of the important jobs or make any of the important decisions.
I know there are many who might finish that last sentence with "yet". I have no rebuttal for that other than to say I sure as hell hope not.

Yes I try to tell my family members this. The posts that incite them to hate the left so much are shown to them specifically for that purpose. Usually its some completely wrong thought that demonstrates that the left and the viewer are so far from seeing eye to eye that there is no hope whatsoever. Equivilent to "Yeah, here on the left, 2+2 has never equaled 4, its always 11, and always will be" but about something you care about, and the post makes it seem like everyone on the left agrees with it, so you feel like you have insight into the absolute insanity on "the other side"
The people on the left that hate the right so much have the exact same but opposite experience to ensure them that the right can never be reconciled with.
Its all just to keep you from wondering if it was a good idea to print 6 trillion dollars (thats 6 million millions) and give them away to your favorite pals, and wondering if thats a good idea for the country, and if forcing small businesses to close while amazon and target and costco stay open 100% was a good idea, or totally fucked. Because all of this was done by the left and right overlords to sell you down the river, but in the mean time you're busy being afraid of or hating your actual neighbor who was bent over just like you.
