Starting class, I need help.
So what is a good starter class to play as? I heard that Necro is very good, but was wondering about some of the melee ones
Also i really want to play as a cleric but not sure if its even good as a starter

They are all fun. Some are more solo friendly and others more group desired.
Rogue, warrior, cleric. Limited at soloing, very gear dependant. Paladin, SK, ranger, monk, mage, shaman, wizard (if quad kiting). Better at soloing, somewhat gear dependant. Necro, bard, enchanter, druid. Much better at soloing with very little gear dependency especially if charming. Generally but not always, finding a group with a wizard, ranger, druid, mage or necro is more tough than the rest.

It's a slightly tougher road to start as a melee class, but pretty rewarding. Gear means a lot more to melee,so you really feel the upgrades as you get them.
Most casters can level basically naked into the 50s I gave a friend of mine my old junk gear to start an enchanter and he hasn't upgrades a thing yet at 59, under 500p in gear.

Cleric is fine if that is what interests you most.
Befriend enchanters. Profit.

I’d say this guide is fairly accurate even though it was made before velious. I’d push monks to number 2 and maybe bards down but overall pretty fair. Go enc to master the game and get rich and then twink whatever you want after.

I remember raiding with mofo casters in cloth while I'm on my SK trying to eke out every bit of AC I can get.

A monk is really they only melee class that can have a normal solo experience in a wide range of places.
