Doesn’t allow you to commit crimes with impunity, moreso seems like the cop version of the Good Samaritan law which says if you get hurt while I am doing appropriate rescue methods, I am not responsible

Otherwise if qualified immunity applied to everything I imagine a cop could rob a bank and then go on a shooting spree and kill 30 people then radio in “hey sergeant I’m gonna go ahead and invoke qualified immunity on this one”

Don’t think it’s easy to do on a whim

From both watching audit the audit videos of police work and participating in police trainings the amount of force allowed has to be reasonable to the amount of resistance/threat

So if a person is grabbing the cop, the cop can grab back, etc. And it scales up/down from there

So beating a suspect to death who is prone on the ground no longer running is not a reasonable use of force. And what if they decide to change this on a whim? I don’t think that is a likely scenario
