dota 2 matchmaking is shit though. the whole "no matchmaking, join any game with any player it's like the wild west" environment of bnet and the various 3rd party virtual network services is how i got into the dota 1 pro scene in the first place. it lent to much greater creativity in the creation of team compositions because pro players were mostly playing zero-consequence games against pubbies and had no reasons not to try out experimental ideas more often. that's why dota 1 had a lot more 0 day patches than dota 2.
