Default Chainmail Pattern Vendor Audit

As a part of the Sep 2000 tradeskill update, new patterns were added for Ornate Chain armor combines as documented here. A number of the vendors selling these items appear to have been added with this patch and should be flagged for Sep 2000.

Before tradeskill update - July 2000 EQTraders capture
After tradeskill update - Oct 2000 EQTraders capture

Additionally, none of the NPCs marked as added are present in the eqic.net ShowEQ (Late Classic) dump or the ficticiousname9 ShowEQ (Mid-Kunark) dump archived by Dolalin.

Chainmail Pattern Vendors
* Tanalin Silverkale - Northern Felwithe - Chainmail Patterns + HE Cultural Ores/Hammer/Book - Added Sep 2000

* Lynda McDobbs - Halas - Large Chainmail Patterns - Already flagged for Sep 2000

* Merchant Niwiny (misspelled Ninwiny on EQTraders) - Kelethin - Small Chainmail Patterns - Added Sep 2000
She was originally missing on P99. Here is the thread discussing when she should be added. This detailed map of Kelethin merchants from a Jan 2000 gameznet.com capture doesn't include Merchant Niwiny.

* Putad - Neriak Foreign Quarter - Large Chainmail Patterns + Book - Exists prior to Sep 2000
Until Sep 2000, it looks like Putad should have an identical inventory to Ungia, as seen in the capture above. After the patch, Putad should have that inventory removed (molds and books) and replaced with large chainmail patterns and the book, About Ogre Splintmail. At first glance, it seems as if the patterns were added to her previous inventory, but by Dec 2000 she is no longer listed as selling molds. Likely, the new info was added with the patch, and the existing info wasn't updated until later.

This Jun 2000 capture of neriak.com also suggests Putad's and Ungia's inventory was identical prior to Sept 2000.

Ungia's inventory needs a fix-up as well.
Remove: Needle Mold, Thimble Mold (These two molds are sold by tailoring vendors in the trilogy era)
Add: Hilt Mold, Armor and Weapons Guide, Basic Blacksmithing

The "Weapons and Container molds" inventory is documented here.

* Draan N`Ryt - Neriak Third Gate - Chainmail Patterns + DE Cultural Ores/Hammer/Book - Added Sep 2000

* Puglala (misspelled Pugla on EQTraders) - Oggok - Large Chainmail Patterns - Added Sep 2000
On P99, Puglala sells large banded molds and large chainmail patterns. This is incorrect. EQTraders (Dec 2001) only ever lists her as selling chainmail patterns. Mugu does offer large banded molds in Feerrott as expected.

This comment describes availability of banded molds for a Dark Elf smith:

For a DE smith, you can get past (50) just in Neriak. To proceed
futher, you will really need to have access to materials in Freeport.
My DE cleric still cannot purchase in Freeport, so I made a half-elf
Paladin alt to purchase for him.

Small banded molds (DE can use these) can be purchased in Neriak
(Toadstool), medium molds in Freeport and large molds from an Ogre
vendor by the river in Feerroot
.
* Connie Link - North Qeynos - This NPC is missing on P99 - Added Sep 2000
Connie should have the full set of 12 chainmail (medium) patterns

* Charlotte Diggs - Rivervale - Small Chainmail Patterns - Added Sep 2000
On P99, Charlotte offers a full set of small banded, small chainmail and small fine plate molds/patterns. This situation is similar to Puglala in that no tradeskill NPC has this inventory. As seen in the EQTrader capture above, she should only sell small chainmail patterns once she's added in Sep 2000. Small banded molds are already available from Hanga Wiskin in Misty Thicket, and small fine plate molds are not available in the Rivervale area until the April 2002 revamp with Jimji Bottletoe.

New npc in Rivervale with today's patch. See my post under Kevlin's Bride in the quest database for my guess about what she's involved with.
In Summary
- Connie Link should be added
- Puglala should have her large banded molds removed
- Charlotte Diggs should have her small banded and small fine plate molds removed
- All chainmail vendors except Putad should be flagged for Sep 2000
- Ungia's inventory should be corrected and Putad's inventory should mirror Ungia's until Sep 2000, at which point Putad sells only large chainmail patterns and the book, About Ogre Splintmail

You do great work Passenger. Tradeskill auditing is painful (for me) and never wanted to research much. You bring so much work to that area and P99 will be more classic from your efforts.
