Default Need a new computer - advice

Hey all,

I’m hoping to restart some P99 after a long break, but haven’t had a computer for my household in a while. I’m thinking of just trying to get an inexpensive laptop from a few years back but was wondering if anyone has experience running on a low end machine? I’m assuming a low end machine by todays standards could handle this game, but thought I’d see if anyone had any thoughts/advice.

I think I’d prefer a laptop for the mobility, and getting windows 10. I’ve looked at some of the small form factor pcs too though and they seem pretty affordable but mostly come with windows 11.

Anyways, any help I’d appreciated! Thanks all!

I run p99 on an 8 year old laptop running win 10. Hell, up till 5 years ago I had an old desktop running winxp playing it!

If this is the game you want to play, and not newer titles? You can have both p99 **and** peace in the valley.

Everyone is owed an expense periodically just to stay sane. Finding a laptop to play p99, honestly? The lady should be hugging you and saying you are the best ever.

What we looking at? small form factor pc's are an option especially if you already have amonitor. Try the reddit for this question. ask what's the cheeepest way to roll a char?

win 10 laptops are so cheap.

I currently play on a winxp desktop from like 2006 and p99 actually runs smoother and more stable on it than my modern corei9 win10 machine. Older games often tend to play nicer with hardware (and an OS) from roughly the time they came out.

All you need to run this game smoothly. Win 10, at least 8GB ram, SSD (this is a must), try at least a low end graphic card to be included in your computer like a 1060-2060-3060 i have never been fan of integrated graphics cards.

Thanks guys!

Is windows 11 really all that bad? Or just needs some extra patience?

Windows 10 has been longer time with us, it is a more polished operating system, and a lot of people reports compatibility issues among other issues with W11. I don't see it a must to jump into the system yet, no benefits at all, specially for an old game like Everquest.

If you're looking on the lower end of gaming laptops 600-1,000 lets say ? You'd be hard pressed to get better overall value then a legion 5. Solid build, great port selection, good screen given it's price point, ram(both sticks) and storage can be upgraded.

I'd be one thing if you asked this question 20 years ago, but you can run this game on practically any and everything, even toasters from the mid 2000's.
