Currently Playing: Champions of Norrath on my PS2 to my glorious 32" trinitron. Just got a PS2 up and running with a 1TB SSD and about 150 titles of S tier excellence including the diablo-like Everquest games.

the ps2 EQ MMO is almost in a playable state last i fucked with it, you just need a memory card patch thing to switch the server to the emu iirc

I was only half listening to this while driving to work, and at first I’m thinking oh God not another free speech absolutist narrator wanting to argue the right to spam “KILL YOURSELF CUNT” 50 times in a row or something

But this Valorant dev I coulda swore actually said they were going to be policing these various categories of speech including, and this is crazy, speech that is derogatory towards another player’s performance. I coulda swore that was one of the categories. Maybe I mis-heard, I dunno

Personally, I do kinda feel that with a mute feature that takes literally one second, that devs are moving too aggressively towards policing speech. If you have a problem, just put them on ignore? The issue can’t be the effort required, because it only takes a second, so is the issue that you have to read a few insults before you are able to take a 1 second break from the gameplay to put someone on ignore/mute?

But either way, I don’t even play this modern shit. Or the old shit. Or any games, so what do I really care

I’m thinking what??? That’s not saying it’s right or good to be threatened, but to grow a thicker skin is not unhelpful. You absolutely should try to grow a thicker skin, if for nothing else than to have a more clear mind to protect oneself if the threat were credible or against future threats. As opposed to what? Grow a weaker skin? Stay the exact same?

Don’t ever suggest resiliency. Or for them to get better at the game because they’re bad. Because their brains just can’t handle it
