Well, Armenia is getting genocided again and it doesn’t even make the news

Hopefully Turks and Azeris and Arabs are driven back into hell from whence they came, Kurds as well if they don’t submit like their ancestor Harpagus

(Disclaimer: wife is ethnic Azeri from northern iran)

We’d rather pretend we have friends (like in Russia’s case) than admit the truth and beat the shit out of people before they get too uppity

Also, then as now, Constantinople and the surrounding area happens to be extremely strategic. But yes, Turkey should’ve been booted from NATO a long time ago and the treaty of sevres enforced at nuke point

The outcome is the same but this way the Russians pay a heavy cost and a free people at least have a fighting chance. If Ukraine west of the Dnieper becomes a functional democracy that loathes Russia, pretty much secures Europe from the east along with Poland and Finland. This is an own goal by Russia and we have acted as harshly as we could’ve without actually using our military. That changes nothing about the Europeans being simps, especially Germany

Missile technology is far ahead of missile defense, specifically because if you Zerg a target, you are fucked. Take an aircraft carrier. Fancy piece of equipment that with 40+ F-35s is stronger than most entire country’s air forces. What happens when China or Russia sends 100 missiles and drones in? Not good
Agreed, that's the concerning thing if this ever turns into conflict. I don't think our Navy would be super useful within 1,000 miles of China and the missile barrages directed at our few land bases would be excessive. Luckily it goes both ways and they'd probably have a hell of a time ferrying troops or supplies to Taiwan without having it all sunk.

They sit at an extremely important strategic position and they know they can extract tons of favors and resources in exchange for their friendliness. We used to keep nukes there pointed right at Russia.

Constantinople, called "the city of the world's desire", is still very important. And Turkey turning the Hagia Sophia into a mosque was sacrilege. I could go for another crusade.

To the original question of can Ukraine push Russia out: of fucking course they can. Look no further than USSR v Afghanistan (very similar because we supplied their enemies like we are now) and Vietnam v USA, where USA got their shit pushed in.

That's because the USA was held back. Could have blockaded and bombed properly but for reasons we decided to instead slog it out over a few years.

Something not too dissimilar happened in Korea too.

Compare it to Desert Storm where we weren't restrained and wanted a fast end to the conflict instead of years of war with boots on the ground.

Not in WW3

Once the gloves are off and everyone gets the collapse of our order, they’re going to get smoked by us BIGLY

I don’t relish the prospect, but If there’s one thing we Americans hate more
Than each other, it’s foreigners
