mage knight looks a little complicated as ive never really played a board game like this, talisman looks a bit easier

some edit: mage knight looks more involved and probably more interesting to play after you learn the rules, but it just seems if i had acouple people over talisman looks to be an easier game to digest out the gate which is what im looking for. Something that we can play randomly and the rules are easy to teach, i should of made that clearer in my original post!

If anyone is into their tabletop games (not just 40k), Beasts of War are worth a look in terms of YouTube content.

This was my favorite board game as a kid, next to monopoly of course.

this one is a card game but it's pretty cool and makes a good gift:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/131103682214?lpid=82

Citadels
Description:

A medieval city destined for greatness, immense power and importance beckons you. There is only one problem: it isn’t built yet. This vacuum presents the perfect opportunity for you. You must wisely spend your gold, bluff, intimidate and outmaneuver your rivals as you seek to build and control this new city.
Citadels is a game of nobles, intrigue, and cities for 2-8 players, playable in 20-60 minutes.

we also like ticket to ride, settlers, small world etc... but citadels if great with only 2 people
