Agricola, Mage Knight, Talisman, Carcassonne, and Eclipse are my favorite. I get together with a group of friends each week and play board games, these are definitely the ones we play the most.

I second settlers of catan, Carcassonne, and agricola. Try them in that order, especially if you aren't familiar with euro strategy games.

Recently played hive and ticket to ride too, both fun.

Also: munchkin.
