I mean obviously baby chicks are cute and it's sad to watch them get ground up, but I don't think that's even what's happening here. I can't really tell, but it looks like the GIF is more about selecting individual chicks- probably ones that are already dead- and putting them down the tube to get ground up. I think the rest (the ones that aren't pulled out of the batch) are probably shipped off to the farm.
anything you eat that was an animal definitly, without a doubt went through a horrible life.

The source, be warned its graphic!:

I'm not a vegetarian but factory farming can be terrible. Not all factory farms are like this but there are definitely a lot more that are than arnt - just look at how unkempt your neighbors yard is, there are more careless messy people than there are neat and tidy [You must be logged in to view images. But whatever, some people value different forms of life differently. I think about this stuff every time I eat at a chain restaurant or something. I try to avoid that more than anything.

Hey some people think this shit is awesome, what can you do.

One day either robots will rule an awesome rock planet in space where life isnt a thing, or maybe well be like in startrek where most people are good. Idk.. but what i DO know, is I'm depressed now.

Sad [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

lol I somehow knew my comment would start a fire....

I don't even think theres any practical reason to grind baby chickens up, they barely have any meat on their bones yet. I somehow doubt that's what is really going on in those gifs, but maybe!

Some animals that become food have had good lives. Factory farms bad.

Why They Grind Up Male Chicks
As you can see here, it's a simple question of profitability. Is it cheaper to raise male birds up for meat and sell them, or to grind them up? It's cheapest to grind them up. They don't grow fast enough to provide maximum profitability to the industry. Here's what a farmer on my blog had to say about this practice:

heh the factory doing what it does best [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] er.. dang, I mean [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

eh like I said some people don't get bothered by this stuff. Sometimes I try to put myself in the flies shoes when I'm trying to kill one like, 'cool nice day tod-- WHOAH! SHI* GAMEOVER', and then I think of god shaming me in the clouds one day.

I'm JK but seriously.. good state :P

I stand corrected, that is pretty nasty.

There is probably less meat on those chickens than guts and bones.

TNG does attribute them to all of humans positive evolution.. like it was the invention of those that stopped war and consumerism.
