With the population here dwindling and no signs of a merge and fresh server, I decided to try out THJ. I would like to start by saying I really hate post Velious content and I quit playing live soon after SoL launched. Now that this is out of the way, my thoughts on THJ:

This game is basically Everquest becomes a fast paced ARPG like PoE or Diablo. It is easy to get in, it is easy to gear up and it is easy to just go wherever you want and kill shit. You can solo anything but there is still a challenge and you cannot just go in without a plan and slay. For example it took me 2 tries to kill naggy.

You can get in, play for 30 min, and feel like you accomplished something. It is kinda like how Vile made his PvP crucify server only PvE, So for someone like me who has a family a job and no time to raid, this scratches this itch without having to get batphoned at 3am because of a quake.

Anyone else playing this?

So you play *one* hour solo and you can kill NAGGY !?

that reminds of playing the first Wizardry

It had bug where as a bishop you would identify 9th item - identifying at least gave you a Biigly tremendous amount of gold

Then able to buy all best gear

If go to vegas and win every time but a tiny amount most gamers would quit

Same thing for me - it is pointless - like playing poker against yourself

Well, I have to admit I already got to 60 and it is just farming AA's at this point. Just people farming Dulak non stop. It is a fun game for about a week and then it just becomes repetitive. Maybe it is because I never got into the expansions past Luclin. Anyway, onto something else till a new P99 server launches.

If the intention was to introduce plat sinks then great. However the propensity for greed in online gaming……. (Eq2 plat duping comes to mind)

The intention is for plat sinks, yup. The plat quite literally gets changed in the DB directly after kicking them offline.

We literally remove the platinum from the characters in that case by modifying the DB to encourage people not to waste our time with those requests as they generally take the time of the administrative CSR team to complete.

If the intent was to 'sell plat' or conspiracy tier bullshit, we could've just done that at any point without advertising that it's being done through some obfuscated method.

We are anti-RMT. Anti-Krono. Anti-'spending money on something we've spent enough money on throughout the years'. You spent enough money back in 1999 to 2003 on this game. That was the game's golden years. People just want to enjoy their favorite game without having to pay for it again, and certainly not to pay for an advantage in any way.

We think MTX is a vile implementation that has corrupted our favorite MMOs throughout the last two decades years. Be that via RMT, Krono or otherwise.

You will not be able to donate to the Quarm server directly. Not for anything related to the game or its costs. And especially not for anything in return for your 'donation'.

Let's call 'donations' when you get something in return in these game private servers what they truly are: payments for items that use a fancy term to avoid responsibility and trick people into spending money.

And we will NEVER do that on Quarm. 'donations' are not donations.

For our team's effort for nothing in return? Yeah, sure. That's different.

That's what a true donation is; showing your appreciation or giving something you have to a cause you like for nothing in return.

It's intellectually dishonest to call paid microtransactions for items 'donations'.

THJ is the most at risk of a shutdown. Scratch the surface they're onto a winner at the moment. Good for them though honestly, they've created something fun.

I really hope THJ wins that fight. It's not EQ in a P99/PQ style setup. But what it is, is so much better in so much ways, IMO.

THJ is incredible and I'd heavily encourage checking it out.

Playing devil's advocate here...if I was Daybreak I would go right after THJ. It is the only EMU that really interferes with their live servers and taking subs away. P99 is 1k players tops, which are people that would most likely not play a live server.

THJ goes deep into the expansions where people who play live would most likely drop and play for free.

It was fun for me for about a week, but it gets pretty boring as any combo does so much damage due to AA's there is no challenge. I sat in PoH with my pet build and had them fighting 10 mobs and was doing work on my laptop while this happened.

Kinda wish we had AAs on P99 just to give some extention other than max 60 for characters locked in the same progression for years. But it would certainly make content even more trivial than it already is which would lead to more drusella sathir type of camp outcomes.

Oh yeah, once you get your 3 pets you can level to 60 in a few hours. Like I said it was fun for about a week, but it gets boring because everything is just so OP with the AA's.
