Burger King franchise 'refuses' to close 800 Russian restaurants

Burger King is trying to suspend its operations in Russia, but that's proving difficult. A business partner controlling 800 restaurants has "refused" to close them, the company said.

The burger chain, owned by Restaurant Brands International (QSR), has a joint venture partnership with businessman Alexander Kolobov in Russia. RBI controls just 15% of its Russian Burger King business, and Kolobov is responsible for the "day-to-day operations and oversight" of its locations in the country.

Wouldn’t fix the problem. Seems like the laws address bribery in the political system, which is another separate problem

I don’t think our government bribes legacy media and big tech to push only its propaganda. It doesn’t need to. It is just pure tribalism; you don’t need to bribe people with money who already hold all the same political opinions as yourself. Just staff these companies only with 1 political party, and they will do what you want them to do, no money required

Ok, I'm going to officially call it.

Russian Defeat.

Now it's just a matter of how bad it will be.

Today is three weeks. Russia has sustained terrible casualties, lost an incredible amount of vehicles and airframes, and has not made any progress on the ground in a week. They have actually been pushed back in some places like Mikolayev. They have not taken Mariupol yet, a city forecasted to fall in the first couple of days, surrounded and cut off.

They are done.

Putin will now increase civilian deaths and infrastructure losses to force more favorable terms.

Hopefully Zelensky will hold firm as the Russian negotiating position deteriorates. They already lost a bunch of civilians and infrastructure. To guarantee a more lasting peace it's worth losing more. That's pretty cold but you're making an investment in the future with the sacrifices of today. If you don't beat the invader badly, they'll just kill you down the road.
