tl;dr / QQ post ahead.

To be honest, also not enjoying it lately in the last week or so.

Groups have been kind of weird the last few times I've logged on. /o warrior LFG for hours on end with no bites.

Seems like at 40+ not many people want to grind experience especially with a melee, it's all just a farm fest. Not that people have to group with anyone or share anything (I wouldn't be surprised if someone still flamed me for this).

It was like that on live on my server too. In fact you could walk from the zone in to lord and not see any mobs other than the frog slaves. The main difference is that people were still trying to get experience outside of guk or solb 40+ if they couldn't find a group. Killing guards, specs, ice giants, etc. if they had to. The only people who do this on P1999 from what I've seen are caster solo/duo teams, no melee involved until I was duoing with a druid today. Everyone else it's guk, solb, or log off.

Maybe it's a population issue. On my live server guk live and dead side used to be completely camped (dead side was stupidly like 6 separate camps), solb was about 5 separate camps (not counting efreeti/fgs), and there used to be a couple separate groups in oggok. Maybe one in grobb as well and another in freeport and some others killing dwarf guards. Or maybe people are just more attuned to the fact that classic melee are underpowered, especially when they aren't geared.

And I played a warrior on live classic as well, so I know I'm already patient enough to tolerate the pain that it is.
I personally would love to do permafrost with a group but nobody wants to do the run. What's the closest port spot to there anyway? It isn't NK is it?

Leveling as a group dependent class, rogue, the times when I am best able to find a group are evenings and weekends. At that, if I choose to level, I better block out a 4 hour window to accomplish any tasks. While the latter statement is the nature of EQ, deal with it, the former statement could easily be resolved by allowing two-boxing. I can not count the times I have been in a 'half-group' at either late night/early morning.

Naturally, spending a 1/3rd of time /played leaves one disheartened, but at the same time, the overall community is great, nobody really is taking a ten-year old corpse super seriously, and Barrens chat.. err OOC can range from lawlworthy to full retard in about 5 seconds which is completely 'classic' imho.
