Default Peter Jackson's The Lord of The Rings movies

I watched these in theaters when they released between 01-03. Found out my wife hadn't seen them and so we just spent ~4ish days going through the 3 movies in the extended edition.

Wow. All I can say is wow. Ok that's not true inc a bunch of words.I remember feeling amped to play EQ after watching the movies in theaters, but as an adult I was totally blown away. I don't think I paid enough attention to the little details and politics that were transpiring when I was a kid...because this time around it felt like the movie clicked with me on all levels.

My wife just started reading the books and I think I'll do so when she finishes them. Have you guys seen these movies? Or read the books? I think both were ahead of their time..I know so many people praise these books and movies but I truly cannot say enough good things. Multiple characters resonated with me and personal life experiences and multiple scenes connected with me on some sort of emotional or personal way. I highly recommend rewatching them if it's been a while.

TLDR: I'm blown away at the LOTR movies and wanna read the books now and play another 5k+hrs of EQ or LOTRO after watching.

Both me and a good friend came out of one of the LOTR movies (I forget which one) and we said "Yeah we should totally go play some Heroes of Might and Magic 3" [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

From my understanding, the Eagles are basically equivalent to angels, and in the LOTR lore the angels are not really supposed to interfere with Middle Earth. It's similar to if you believe in God and angels. Angels could have killed Hitler in WW2, which would have ended a major conflict. But there is no evidence of this occuring, as God probably wouldn't allow them to do this. You can think of the Eagles not destroying the One Ring in the same context.

Gandalf is also an angel, and has one of the three elven rings of power, the ring of fire. He cannot unleash his full wizard powers because he is an angel, and has the same restriction as the eagles.

Instead, he uses the ring of fire to "fire up" the courage of others, which is one reason why he is able to persuade people to go on these perilous quests. He is guiding the people of middle earth to fix the problems since he cannot directly do it himself.

The Balrogs are basically corrupted angels and aren't supposed to exist. That is why Gandalf decided to use his full wizard powers against the Balrog specifically. There was no way to stop it from killing the Fellowship otherwise. He does warn the Balrog first that he is an angel, which is his famous "you shall not pass" speech. Perhaps he was hoping to avoid conflict if the Balrog knew he was a serious threat.

Gandalf and Galadriel each ride an escort eagle and make short work of the nazghul while frodo safely flies to mordor

Dont even need to see a wood elf skateboard on a shield down some steps

R u implying Gandalf isn't a man? Lol.

Also Galadriel being one with the katana is a retconning. She was just a pretty elf in the books. There are also 9 nazghul. We never saw eagle versus flying thing power levels. We only saw them hovering and at low lvls looking for frodo and the ring. The one that dies was on the ground lol. They could be much more dangerous at altitude with some full airspeeds.

Like I get what ur saying buttttt it's not bulletproof.

Gandalf wasn't super powerful yet, he had to gain some levels soloing a raid mob in Moria.

Galadriel is immortal but low HP and no divine aura. One arrow would have ended her and she wasn't willing to risk her immortality for some bullshit ringwar that happens every few thousand years.
