basically the only way to last out longer than a million years is to transform from biological or human to some other hybrid biologically engineered organism or mechanical creation heavily shielded in a more self sustaining environment (like a cell lol)

we think of elven immortality and dragons and truth be tol'd it be really hard to do that without looking like this:

any sufficiently advanced civilization would probably just let itself die and use the afformentioned engineered entitties to re-engineer their civ from a seed on new islands throughout the turbulant ocean of the cosmos.
