Default (Patch V26) Question about TD Raptor classification

I noticed that Raptors had animal classification removed in V26 patch.

Sundawg: Raptors, Fish, and Gators in the Timorous Deep are no longer considered animals.

I am unable to find any real patch notes reference of this changing outside of forum posts that they were changed to animals around 2002. It's clear that after that they were classified as animals.

Is the intention to change these back to animals later, or is there a definitive timeline elsewhere that shows they are not supposed to be flagged as beasties at this time?

If not, can the development staff consider leaving the classification intact?

Scouring through some EQ patch archive sites I did not find anything.

Thanks folks.

probably one of those things where they were meant to be animals but it wasnt fixed until later. also kunark quest NPC Dapper Blackhammer was taken out because the quest wasn't fixed til Luclin (even tho its a kunark quest)

Earliest reference to druid charming raptors I can find so far is 2002.

as for where to xp? You can still quad them and you can charm the bears in the Permafrost pit.

This seems like one of those things that should remain as is, and not reverted to "classic" for classic sake...

If evidence shows that they were made animals later down the road, and it doesn't have negative rippling effects, why not just leave it?

Can we see the evidence regarding this/developer thoughts on the matter?

So, obviously gators and fish are animals, why would you remove their classification as such? This looks like something that was overlooked by EQ developers and put on the todo list as a patch that just happened to take place at this date.

** Spell Related **

- Eye of Zomm and Eye of Tallon are now non-KoS in a fashion similar to
familiars
- Mind Wrack gives mana instead of taking mana away
- Charm is immediately removed from charmed NPC's when the character
that charmed them casts invisibility

- The damage component of Elnerick's Entombment of Ice no longer causes
the spell to have a chance at breaking its root component
- Snakes in Lavastorm and Paineel are now animals
- Hammerheads are now animals
- Treants in the Plane of Growth are now plants
- Timorous Deep gators, fish, and raptors are now animals
make sure snakes and hammerheads are not animals considering this logic plz, also i should be able to hold charm while invis

immediately check could be different from server tick invis checks, more research would be needed to get charm holding while invised.

I don't understand this whining over classic mechanics. Sure we all have things we would like to change about the game (personally I would remove annoying cockblocking key quests, let Iksar wear cobalt armor, make enchanter spells cost more mana, nerf monk AC, give wizards spell crits, etc. I'm sure you have your own list) but the fact is nilbog is here to recreate classic everquest and is nice enough to let us play on his server.

What I don't understand is the need to screw over GUI stuff like the map, compass, targeting rings, spellsets, and now the new guild names in the wrong place. When he starts throttling the connection of everyone down to 56k and disabling every resolution above 640x480 is when I'll try eqmac [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
