Screen becomes really bright when opening P99 client

I'm not sure what the deal is, but this has happened for as long as I can remember. It doesn't really bother me usually, but now on Windows 10 this brightness never goes away--I have to fiddle with monitor settings and then it goes back to normal.

Does anyone know why this happens, and what I can do to prevent it??
