EQ 25th Anniversary is like a classic rock band not playing any hit songs

It can't just be me.

Nothing about the milestone of 25 years seems genuinely celebrated today.

There should have been tons of video montages, player reactions, game archival footage and even zones brought back to life like the Real Freeport somewhere on Live. And special interviews with the original designers and devs, including Jay Barbeau's soundtrack remembering every detail they can about how this game came about. I know various content like this has been done here and there before but c'mon ... 25th anniversary is THE chance to go all out and put on a massive effort.

If Daybreak, Darkpaw or whoever is now running this game won't bother, I at least half-expected p99 to take up some of their slack given what it represents.

Where is any of this?

All I see is a lot of marketing about the current Live game as if this milestone anniversary of one of the most influential games in history is an excuse to push that instead.

It is literally like going to a very famous Classic Rock band once-in-a-lifetime reunion, and all they play are crappy new songs nobody cares about.

I am shocked that there is not more of a focus on the original game that is responsible for why Live and even p99 is even existent.

There have been more layoffs just recently than in all of 2023.
EQ has notoriously been under-marketed but in the midst of a shaky dev economy they are likely all more concerned for their jobs.

Daybreak/Dey'break/whoever hasn't made any new IPs since they took over from SOE however many years ago now. H1Z1 was a Sony idea/development.

They'll keep squeezing til the last drop. They don't know how to make a game so you think they'd put some effort into preserving EQ/EQ2/etc.

Its Activision-Blizzard not old Blizzard... its not like they where going to make a good game with those dev's anyway might as well inflate and pump for the share holders. Blizzard is dead

There was one of those Asmongold reacts vids a while ago that showed some of the Diablo 4 "devs" having a fireside chat type thing while playing the game.

They were two youngish girls and an interviewer. They were good chatters but when it came to talking anything technical you could tell they were limited in what they knew (maybe it's their first role in the industry) and obviously anyone who bought D4 and was disappointed immediately went to town on the state of the company.

But yeah Blizzard flat out seem to be reducing the CS support they give relative to the old days.

But hey they haven't put the sub price up, which with inflation is functionally lowering it.

As an EQ player I'm shocked at how much CS support wow players expect.
