Also random thought: Fellowship came out in theaters only a couple months after 9\11, which makes the whole trilogy post-9\11. For some reason I could have sworn fellowship came out earlier than that, but nope, Dec 2001. After the horrifying spectacle of 9\11, the spectacle of a fully live-action LOTR trilogy was very welcome I think.
Just imagine the conspiracy theories if Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers released on 9/11.

Plus then none of it matters cause the invincible ghost army just wipes everyone out in two seconds. Anticlimactic.
Right my thoughts exactly. Aragorn's ghost bros were so ridiculously powerful that anyone who died earlier in the trilogy was a needless death. Everyone's sacrifice in the entire film series is nullified and cheapened.

Boromir didn't need to die, Gandalf didn't need to fight the balrog, Galadriel didn't need to do her nice-flex-bro laser light show.

At the ring council, Elrond coulda just been like, "so Aragorn, remember Isildur's sword? Yeah we can reforge it and then summon those ghost bros who owe you a huge favor, and who could destroy Sauron without a single casualty"

So why the need to send millions of their own people to their deaths? Was middle earth over populated? Never let a crisis go to waste right?

Or is Aragorn so gangsta that he be like, "Im not going to release the ghost bros from their torment unless its the last resort, ill send millions of men, elves, hobbits and dwarves to their death before i set them free"

Thats cold. Ice cold.

Aragorn is RUTHLESS, a real OG

I started playing LOTRO because I have one of those lifetime accounts...
But idk why this game feels more dated than EQ. At least the combat does anyway.

Trying to get back into it because I've somehow convinced the old lotro static group from 15 years ago to try it again. Hopefully we don't quit too quickly lol.

I played LOTRO for a few months with the wife and kid. Was fun having a dedicated group. But I don't know if I'm just awesome at this game or what cause everything was ridiculously easy. Our 3 person group was invincible, even in dungeons. Only made it to lvl 25ish though.

Tolkien was good pals with C.S. Lewis (Narnia and shit), and he was weaving some religion based stuff in there. Wouldn't surprise me if Tolkien intentionally was getting it in but being more subtle.

yeah im gonna go out on a limb and say LOTR is good, but not as good as the reputation that it has

the way I see it, they dumped money into CGI and made a visually appealing ultra-nerd movie

then the world of ultra-nerds reacts going, "they finally made OUR MOVIE"

and yeah it's like babe ruth's home run record. it was only good, because no one ever did before.
