Default Getting Reacquainted With The Game

I'm an old-school EQ player who was big into the game back during the original run (started in RoK and quit when Luclin came out due to RL stuff).

I've bounced back in and out of EQ over the years, but never found that magic that the original game had. I'm sure you've all heard this story.

Anyway, I had a few questions that I hope can be answered.

1. Is the green (or blue) server's economy still reasonable? I remember back in the original game that once the game got to a certain point that everybody was overgeared for the content. Things like level 5 characters running around in gear that drops off of Trak'anon, etc. Is that the case with this server now, or does it still give that feeling of accomplishment when you actually get a gear upgrade in Guk?

2. Are there still low-level characters to group with or is everyone now level 60, leaving the newbie zones deserted?

3. Are there "leveling" guilds around? As in, could I join a guild and actually be with people around my own level as a new character? I guess that even an established guild with plenty of alts could work for this too, I'm just not looking to be PLed or for the gear handouts that some of them did in the old days.

4. Which server is closer to the game that I remember playing back in 2000 and 2001? Green or Blue? I'll roll a character tonight on green as a test, but I'm open to switching servers if need be.

5. The leveling is still close to the old days, right? I've tried the "Progression" servers that Daybreak does, but on all of those I was able to get a new character to level 50 in about 8 hours. That's ridiculous, I prefer the old days when it took weeks or months to get a toon up to max level.

Thanks for any insight!

Both servers are at the point in the timeline, but green is fresher.
There's going to be mega twinks you run into, but it doesn't mean your gear upgrades will feel pointless
You can find groups at most level ranges, but you need to hit the hotspots to field easy pick up groups
Leveling is I think similar to classic, takes a good bit of time to get up there
He'll levels are a thing here.
Once you get a few friends you can go anywhere.
Get used to searching for people in your level range and it's not bad
/who all 9 15
For instance that would show you where all the players are in that range(probably crushbone, kurns tower)

Thanks for the help. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

Rolled a cleric and after about two hours I'm only at level 3, so it's definitely in line with old school EQ. That's good.

The hardest part will definitely be once I get to 5 or 6 and need to find groups. Hopefully as a healer, it won't be too bad. Just head over to EC (Crushbone will be really hard to get to as a darkie), probably join a guild at some point.

Thanks.

At level 5 OP you'll get ward undead... that starts an alternate line if you choose to take it as an undead wizard [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Solo is very possible if you are struggling to find groups or just want to keep on top of skills like defense/1h blunt/etc.

Step 1 as a dark elf is usually the undead "corner" next to the EC zone line in Nektulos <3

Thanks. I thought about that "Ward" line potentially letting me solo in Nek or maybe even in Befallen.

I played dark elves a lot back in the classic EQ days, so I'm pretty familiar with Nek. Never tried it as a cleric though (my healer was a human who never needed to solo) so we'll see how it goes.
