The vernacular used by anyone is only indicative of the societal niche in which it is prevalent. I have heard many white/asians/arab/etc. people talk in that way and they all have the common property of being a 'thug.' What makes it racist by you is that you are applying a single racial profile to the slang of a subculture which holds many races. By saying "you are talking like a black person" you are implying all black people talk like that and only black people talk like that. It is not on the same level of white supremacists, but yes it is in fact racist. If you can't see how it is then I am sorry.

That is correct; however, applying stereotypes to profile a race is. It is the same as stating all black people eat watermelon and fried chicken and drink malt liquor. Those are all stereotypes and when you apply them as some sort of factual backing, you are guilty of racism. I said "have you never met a black person?", since your attempt at stereotypically black gangster language was so awkwardly off that you clearly have no experience with the "subculture" you were apparently trying to reprise. d) Your analogy sucks; fear not, I'll provide a better one. Here's your problem Lexical: the shitty impression of "thugs" that you were doing isn't based on some organic "thug" dialect reserved for gang-bangers of all races on all continents. It's based on African American Vernacular English. Just like calling people 'eses' and 'cholos' is associated with Mexican gangsters because those words have Spanish meaning, using terms like 'dis' and 'dat' and using the verb 'be' as in "shit be crazy" and "why you gotta be frontin" is associated with AA vernacular. If you had mentioned a group of bashers taking the piss out of a blue, people may have associated your impression with the British.

But in your abundant ignorance, you chose to use diction that is clearly derived from African American vernacular -- and then attribute it to people of all races sharing the common property of being 'thugs'.

Anyway, I'm detracting from the point which was that your impressions sucked and you're not funny. If calling me a racist mitigates your shame, knock yourself out.
