Here in England we're 99% disarmed, so we get our fishing knives, kitchen knives, baseball bats etc and carry on regardless if we feel the need. Can't stamp out violent behavior completely, this isnt Demolition Man where society has evolved beyond violence... what a joke.

Yeah, basically we don't have the right to defend our own property. A good example is a farmer who shot and killed 1 of 2 burglars (pikeys)... got convicted for murder and that had everyone going nuts. Ended up only serving 3 years but still... :/
