You're mixing the current state of PvP on Red and the fact that Red simply has PvP. Is it awful PvP? Of course. EQ isn't designed for PvP but the fact that Red HAS it means there's some actual competition.

If two people have legs, are capable of running and, indeed, even enjoy running, that doesn't mean they're always going to race each other, even if they could. The fact that they could, theoretically, compete does not mean that they are competing.

Apparently what I do in the game is of great importance (and much annoyance) to someone else's elf sim immersion on a server they don't even play on.

Feels great knowing that when I log into EverQuest I'm pissing someone off on the forums.
