I spent a lot of time in MM. Solo'ing and grping...twinked out and as a legit new player on p99. It is a tight zone (which is fun) with lots of mobs (which is fun) and lots of players (which is fun) with a cool castle theme (which is fun) with actual real loot (which is fun). It also is a train trap of death and tears (this is actually fun for me --- if you know the zone you learn how to deal with it).

The four camp thing: Pond, CE, GY, and CY. This is kind of the traditional set up. If you come here LF a pug then you'll almost 99% chance wind up in one of those four places. The thing is the zone, especially the castle insides, supports WAY more than 1 grp at CE and 1 grp at CY.

First, I would straight up consider the music room / back of castle to be its own camp. A grp could set up in the music room and easily pull tons of mobs if they pull towards the back (maid, butler, cook area) and never see an average CE grp.

Second, I would also consider the Tower its own exp camp. If a grp sets up on the bridge that seems like a reasonable area. They could clear much of the upstairs, the tower itself, the stairwell down to the prison, the torture room etc. They would rarely rub shoulders with the GY grp (which frequently doesn't pull the tower due to lvl difference) or the CE grp inside.

Third, the pit is frequently considered its own area. This one is kinda dicky imo. However, the way it usually happens is that the CE grp either is crappy and decides it would rather pull lower lvl mobs from outside the castle then from inside. The GY grp might not be pulling them at all; for an untwinked GY grp the pit mobs and tower mobs might be legit too high for them. So a lfg/solo'er sees the mobs and sets up shop. Only later as the zone gets cramped does someone whine about the guy in the pit "stealing" their mobs.

I personally solo'd my twink monk up to around lvl 40 by using my eye to single pull the tower and clearing the gargoyles in the stairwell hidden behind the mural. I rarely ever even saw another player with the exception of the high lvl who was camping Cherista.

you're on it ..

the cook area, the upstairs throne room and near the tower can all support another group in addition to CE/CY.

im actually surprised the tower area hasnt caught on as a major PUG point as its easy to get to and is right next to the zone out..

I always liked soloing the gargs from the tower and back into the castle. Great loot, not a lot of risk.

My experience in MM as a level appropriate character steers me away from these areas for a variety of reasons. Cooks are not camped because they chain agro and they harm touch. Tower is not camped because actually fighting on that bridge is AIDS and actually pulling the tower proper is basically a death sentence because 1) the elevator is garbage 2) there is not a good way to split them so you 100% need a chanter (Bards fail to much at this level and root isn't enough)

I have started groups at the tower plenty of times to pull the castle. If there was more room to operate and the 'tower' wasn't so poorly designed this area would be popular IMO
yeah pretty much true, I solo there on my twink alts from tower to CY. lots of fun, and 95% of the time clear.

cooks arent so bad, they are on a different timer than the rest of the zone iirc..

No joke, the S.F. Bay Area is absolutely unbelievable right now. People are paying over $3,000 a month for a studio. This is in sketchy neighborhoods like the tenderloin, too. I did a job for a guy who was house shopping in S.F. about this time last year. He wasn't aware of the S.F. housing bubble, he saw a fixer upper listed for 1.9m so he offered 1.8m and it sold for 2.4m
