Last I checked it's a roleplaying game not an excel sheet simulator, so you should play whichever one brings you the most joy; well as much joy as you can have in your dark basement alone, while all of your peers are doing things outside with their families and friends.
This is what i keep trying to tell my accountant but he wont listen! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Including me being in the basement.

Shamans can make their own Wort Pots. So theoretically you could spend a ton of time farming plat, leveling up alchemy, and farming Wort Pot materials. Then you probably could do some harder camps to get upgrades without Torpor. But this would be a huge timesink.

If I actually managed to get to 60 I would stay SSF and just see how much gear I could manage to acquire. I've always loved the leveling and early max level gameplay a lot more than weekly raiding so this seemed like a fun "forever challenge" (especially with me only playing maybe 4 to 8 hours a week).

Thanks again for the info, and I'll def check out the shaman guide that was linked!

If you made the one exception being able to buy torpor I wouldn’t judge you because it’s like the only class that actually enters a whole new tier at 60 with that spell

I agree. My thought was to make enough Wort Pots and kill a Cliff Golem once using said Wort Pots. This proves you can kill a mob that drops torpor. Then buy Torpor so you don't have to spend eternity recharging wort pots to kill cliff golems. Might even get lucky and have Torpor drop.

I’d definitely pick the race you like the most. A JBB is a huge advantage so Iksar is certainly playing on hard mode. I have a troll and like it but would have been just as happy with a Barb. More wisdom, less size, white bear and cool armor fashion, less xp penalty, barb spiritalist hammer. Also, they fit in HK without shrink pots or bear form.

Economically I’m not sure this will work. Each wort click is a torp tick that costs roughly 100p (less if you banked toes…but getting alchemy up is a cost as well). The torp drop rate on cliff golems is extremely low, they often don’t drop anything but a starmetal thing. The other spells aren’t worth much. I use Worts only when raiding…I use a Mystic Cloak more often which is something a Barb can quest where the other races are KOS.

I’d rather farm FS, hill giants, or seafuries. Frankly if you JBB everything in highkeep and sell the FS you can buy a fungi and then torp at 60. IMHO focus on exp above all else. In the mid 50’s an epic will be more helpful than a JBB but it’s not required to get there.

SSF isn't economical[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] It's about the challenge, not about efficiency. I was just suggesting a way to prove to yourself you could land the cliff golem kill as an SSF player. After that I wouldn't feel bad about buying Torpor, as it just becomes a function of time to kill enough cliff golems for a Torpor drop. Most people don't wanna recharge Worts to kill 400 Cliff Golems.

Farming IG’s for enough toes to periodically make a golem attempt is actually kinda an appealing gameplay loop…
