I actually derive pleasure from different sources, most at work

1. Whenever an adult trying to weaponize their suicidality to control their partner (“if you break up with me I’ll kill myself”) or their family (“if you try to kick me out for my drug use I’ll kill myself”), gets forced into an involuntary psychiatric hold at a public behavioral health hospital where they will be surrounded by psychotic meth heads

2. Whenever a kid who is very clearly trying to manipulate their supports and the BH system gets denied their ridiculous requests

3. Whenever a kid who has been controlling the household through threats towards others or property finally gets some consequences, usually in the form of losing their precious electronics. Most are so angry they are not willing to accept any support during their freaking out meltdown, so I am left to just observe it with an inward smile (maybe call the police if gets too out of hand)

Has this thread realized that science doesn't stop yet? We got three points to make here:

Bacon argued, that needed to end. All knowledge possesses practical value, so the new method was nothing more than inquiry into knowledge that was also useful for us. So, arguing about how many angels could dance on a pin became patently stupid.

The "new method" established as the new norm what we now see as just how the system works: knowledge always produces inventions.

He was 100% correct. In the past 200 years we have invented more things than the entire history of our species combined. Let me give a partial list of some of the marvels:

• Crack

The big point, point #3. Faced with this "Moore's Law" of technological and scientific progress, this system is not going to stop. It never stops. Human beings are incredibly powerful. But there is one thing they CANNOT do: not invent and use what they have the ability to invent and use.

Francis Bacon was a Rosicrucianist. Rosicrucianism is based upon the concept of Idealism, opining that the mind makes the objective reality we share, and thus, is capable of reifying subjectivism into objectivism; it's not exactly a "scientific" belief system. It's akin to Law of Attraction concepts touted in public Noosphere by motivational speakers like Tony Robbins today.

Ultimately, rosicrucianism is very closely related to the new age Christian belief in prosperity doctrine; except the manifesting force is fulfilled by one's self, instead of God. Both faith systems posit that manifestation is "baked into the cosmic system" with only the agent of that manifestation differing.

The difference between "God" being that agent, and one's own self's "magical thoughts" is, unironically, schizotypal thinking.
