I watched ep2 after catching part 11 of Twin Peaks the Return. It's just not even on the same caliber of quality of writing, directing, cohesiveness, art, etc. I am glad there's such quality coming out (thanks Frost & Lynch and the incredible cast) but also WOW does GoT suck my cocc now.

Still gonna watch it.
Did you really just cite TWIN PEAKS as an example of cohesive writing? lol

I love Twin Peaks, but the new season has been borderline unwatchable. Endless vacant stares between the characters and David Lynch Does Abstract Art scenes. The humor and character development/relationships of the first two seasons is barely even there, and "Cooper is a functional vegetable but nobody else notices" thing is just fucking irritating at this point. I like a lot of the horror (e.g., episode 8 charcoal hobos), but it has been rough to watch so far.

New season of GoT feels a little rushed, but I'm still loving it.

SquidBowl delivered. I don't care for the pickup artist makeover version of Euron dropping negs on Cersei, but I appreciate that he murdered 2/3 sand snakes. He's the hero of the show now, right?

Been reading some theories about Bran being the Night King. Seems like some pretty compelling stuff, anyone care to comment?
I agree. I won't be surprised if the theories are correct

Especially stern cringe for the Arya sequence at Hogshead Inn with her overly curt replies, DOUBLE especially stern cringe for the Arya and wolves sequence. "It wasn't you" she says with a shitty little cuck smirk.
I actually disagree here. I think her acting was fine for these scenes. She's basically showing a part of The Hound with her short answers.

Then the wolf scene, you could understand through her facial expressions how she came to understand that Nymeria has chosen her own path now, much like Arya has.

Did u catch ep 11 yet? Incredibly good. But I can understand the pace and abstract art scenes are not appealing to some people. And yes, I certainly cite Twin Peaks as an example of good writing, good acting, and good directing. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Would you have preferred Coop return from a 25 year stint in the Black Lodge, which he ultimately was almost blocked from returning, and regained all his mental faculties? If you're watching TP and expecting the show to go how you'd expect, you're in for a bad time.

How about the character development of people like Janey-E, Constance Talbot, Diane, Tammy, Gordon Cole, the repeat of Denise; let's not forget Bobby, Coop's Doppelganger basically being a mythic force of evil, and the beautiful (highly abstract) scenes portraying the Lodge backstory... I'm surprised you think there isn't good character development.

Definitely some parts are hokey, some parts are not understood yet... but the pacing of this show is different and fresh. The visuals are amazing. The acting is very, very good.

I get it that I'm a hardcore Lynch fan and people who had certain expectations struggle to enjoy the show. I really hope you can get more out of it in the next eps dude!

So you think that was Nymeria? I like the idea that she internalized the Hound and it's sort of re-emerged as she came back to Westeros. It also feels more cohesive if I think about it in terms of Arya/Hound theme, where she exhibits hound-behavior socially, grabbing food and being curt, then she goes and has a meeting with her old Wolf(hound)

good point big dog rog!

I'm only up to ep. 9.

I'm fine with the trademark Lynch weirdness (loved Eraserhead), but I just think it's about as accessible to casual viewers as Tree of Life or Lars von Trier farting for two hours. The original series struck a perfect balance between David Lynch being David Lynch and actually staying coherent.

Cooper actually having a personality was a huge part of the appeal of the show. What he's doing now is more like he's taking a decent idea (Coop is a vegetable because of the lodge) and stretching it to be a cruel joke for what I expect will be all 18 episodes. Weekend At Bernie's was not creative or interesting to me, so yeah, I'd much preferred that he regain mental faculties early in the season. Naomi Watts is likable enough and I'd fuck the tits off Tammy, but character development has taken a backseat to these lengthy abstract sequences. I still enjoy the show, though.

Arya and the Hound are gradually swapping their personalities.

Sansa is also showing some of that Cersei paranoia & politicking. Jon was Ned when he slammed Pedofinger against the wall. I think all of the younger characters on the show are exhibiting behavior that mirrors the adults they've learned from.

Jon is an idiot

Alienate everyone up north + littlefinger

Good plan dude. Almost as good as taking casterly rock instead of KL when you're on dragonstone, IE right next to blackwater bay

The show is garbage. I'm glad I don't pay for HBO.

I love how Danny's plan is so convoluted that Preston and Carmine, two huge nerds, can't make heads or tails of it.
