I had a friend whose family came from Hong Kong that raged at me for using the 'O' word; honestly I've never heard it used in a disparaging or disrespectful way, usually when someone wants to communicate that they'll say 'chinks' or whatever.

Anyway, apparently Oriental is greatly offensive, which I found ironic to be told, when she constantly downtalked 'FoBs'.
