I may run through it on my 65 shaman I guess and see what happens. I'd be very intrigued if the faction hits are different on him than they are on my 100 Druid (who I did the ones posted above on. Had to burn a charge not my ornate velium pendant to get the spirit to talk to me!

Yeah need some research about this. Easy to fix if so.

Or, create shaman on eqlive, find a TrueSpirit npc, con it. Screenshot and submit. Better evidence than nothing.
Wouldn't the shaman epic guide itself be some proof to this?

"A lesser spirit" will spawn where he's killed.

a lesser spirit begins to cast a spell.

a lesser spirit's body pulses with energy.

a lesser spirit regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight
It's the very first step, no?

Another problem down the line. I've turned in my black dire pelt. the next step is the completed book. I acquired it, filled it turned it in and the spirit sentinel won't accept it.

From the wiki :

( ) Turn in pelt to Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle. Receive Black Fur Boots! Get 6 slot booklet from the spirit.
( ) Collect 6 reports from the City of Mist for booklet.
( ) Combine and turn in completed booklet to Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle.
( ) Kill Lord Ghiosk in the City of Mist and loot the 3 books.
( ) Turn in books to Spirit in Emerald Jungle.

The faction required for the turn in has got to be off if you can get the boots and the book but you can't turn the book in!

Yea this seems like proof enough to me. Seems legit.

Shamans start at Indifferent
Non-shaman start at Apprehensively.

Fixed, pending update.

In the faction tables currently, enchanters start at indifferent. All other classes seem to be apprehensive. Anyone know more about this?

That would be interesting. The shaman, wizard and SK epics use TrueSpirit faction. Though the enchanter doesn't.

But enchanters are supposed to be one of the most versatile quest classes with their illusion abilities, so I wouldn't rule that out entirely.

that made no sense, wouldnt chanters be same as others and then use spells to gain higher faction ?
We're talking about EQ here, a game where, for instance, a "good" paladin is expected to murder another "good" paladin (or hire out the job) in order to do his epic quest. Why would you expect anything to "make sense"?

Also enchanters who are masters of mind control are completely unable to handle their summoned pet.

I'd suggest no one attempt to do this quest until it gets fixed. I've gone about grinding this faction out doing every step of the quest multiple times in order to work around the borked faction and the result is that despite doing the quest twice over the final turn in was refused.

Here you can see the mob has the correct faction, goes through the dialogue, has accepted the prior turn in and eats the final turn in anyway.

The pending change has nothing to do with the final turn in. All it affected was the lesser spirits, who previously would talk to anyone, now require indifferent or better. Shamans, who were by default apprehensive with no work, will be indifferent at birth.

The spirit sentinel's acceptance of the iksar scale is dependent on absolutely maxed faction. Warmly, albeit the highest, can still be maxed. This is how it is currently written, and what everyone has needed to date. Is that not how it should be?
