Sounds good to me! Honestly I just wanted a strong foundation. From there I just want to adventure out and explore the place. But I tried to make up for some of the "paladin weakness" by beefing him up a bit by trading and earning some cash.

at 30+ you're better off with arbitors combine greatsword than a 1h and shield when solo. mobs start hitting harder and the ac benefit from shield starts to gets less effective than the extra damage you do 2h

if you are grouping then 1h+shield is still a good option as you are not reliant on doing damage yourself

I just scored a Clay Guardian Shield. So are you saying at 30 an arbitor's greatsword is still more damage than a Ghoulbane when fighting undead? This new shield rocks 25AC and 50HP.

Your thoughts? I could simply bring my ghoulbane and shield + the greatsword when not fighting undead.

Once the damage caps come off, BoF (arby is a bit worse than BoF ratio-wise) will out-DPS ghoulbane. The proc on ghoulbane is fantastic against undead, but its too sporadic to count on over the sustained DPS of a better ratio weapon.

Tru dat. Also while the diff of 43 vs. 40 delay may not seem all that big that's a 7.5% boost to damage over time for the BoF vs. the Arbitor's, which matters quite a bit solo. Keep Ghoulbane, use that plus shield to tank until you score a Sword of the Morning. This server is soooooo terribly mudflated [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] and paladin is unpopular class, so should be able to buy SotM for 1kpp or so. Bank Ghoulbane once replaced, you'll need it for epic quest.

Make friends to get groups, get groups to make friends. You're a strong group tank, and a pretty crappy solo class. As a paladin, e-friends to group with are where the fun is at.

So Sword of the morning isn't that hard to get, 1k plat isn't that big of a deal. I can simply save up for it and replace ghoulbane with it once the time comes and or im not fighting undead. Would that be better than going for a 2hander?

I really like bash and do plan on grouping a lot. Would a ghoulbane/sword of morning + shield be better than Ghoulbane/ Bof-Arbitor's ? Or is the 2h damage still going to be that much better an also ignoring the shield ac + life.

Sword of morning doesn't proc for a long while but its dps is fairly good if I remember correctly

Sword of the morning does not proc/effect ontil Level 50th
Sword and Board is the best type of tank even for soloing with a paladin imo
I have played Paladins way back in the day. and rerolled him on P99
you made a wise choice even though our gear is such a pain up-tain

A good 2hs is called Axe of Iron Back decent damage.

The faster you get a haste item like Swirlspine Belt or FBSS, the easier your life will be -- I'd probably rank that higher in your priority list atm than the shield upgrade you did or the weapon upgrades you're thinking off (Ghoulbane and Baton of Faith can last you till 50+ and SoTM procs and by that time you'll start thinking about Fiery Avenger depending on what kind of backup you have friend-wise or guild-wise).

Those items are good but also cost 10K+ (FBSS). Swirlspine is cheaper but ive never seen it for sale. I will definitely be trying to get them but thats a lot of cash for me atm, I need to simply get some levels and get some gear to sell before I can come close to considering a FBSS.
