telling you right now, the kickstarter wasn't for the money really as much as publicity. What they wanted to do was get paid for the prototype of the game that they already had. after the kickstarter they were probably going to shop the build around to publishers willing to give them money to finish the game. the people that weren't tricked into working for free would already have their money and the guys waiting for sweat equity would get precisely dick.

nobody but the company owners knew that the game wasn't going to make it past alpha. this was a cash grab aimed at a bigger cash grab.

If that's an mmo I'll be impressed. They usually cost over 50 million to develop.

You haven't heard of Star Citizen? It's broken every crowdsource funding record by a mile (regardless of product). They're sitting at over 43 million in funding at this point, and have over 200 developers working on it.

It is a space based MMO, done by Chris Roberts who did the Wing Commander games. Basically a Wing Commander Privateer MMO with modern tech. It is going to be amazing.

not clicking the links, but if they only have 43 million that means that either some people worked for free, a lot of people are getting paid shit or they already have/had someone funding the project and kickstarter was used to get the word out. I'd like to see where the money is coming from and is going.
