What motherboard and processor would you recommend with the parts that I ordered if I replaced them? I might just get new ones next month if I can find a buyer for the ones I have now. Is it really worth it though? I mean tbh I spend most my time on EQ and Civ V.
If you are building a computer for Everquest and Civ5 you can stop with what you have. Otherwise a 3570k and any mother board that has the options you want. Msi, Asus and ASrock are the three primary manufatures for entry level motherboards for LGA1155. You are looking at a price point from 60$ from 300$, I cannot say what is best, it is going to depend if you want to upgrade to a second GPU, how many secondary expansion slots you want, nifty push button overclocking and resets ect ect.

I know nothing about overclocking.

I am going to be playing a lot of new games I suppose. Especially Assassin's Creed. The main game I want it to run is ESO and maybe Battlefield 4. My current computer could never handle BF and it's giant maps.

that is a neat site, i kinda remember it. im about to build a pc as well. i guess my budget is 2k but honestly id rather not go that far unless its something insanely good. anything is better than this emachine i bought years ago. i think i got it on black friday 5 years ago for 300 bucks. i put 4gb ram and a video card in it. needless to say its still a piece of shit.

if I had more in my budget I would have done something like this...

CPU - Intel Core i5-4430 3.0 GHz
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2PH
Video Card - ASUS GeForce GTX 760
RAM - Kingston Hyper X Blu 8GB
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 500 GB (note I use 1 Tb external HDD's)
Case - Thermaltake V3 Black
Power Supply - XFX Core Edition PRO550W
Optical Drive - Samsung 24x SATA DVD RW
Grand Total: $680-$720

This would be on par with most $1,500+ rigs I think. Could probably go with an i7 instead of i5.

oh under 1k would be nice. its been a long ass time since ive done any kind of research into components that i am kinda overwhelmed with options. CPUs for instance, i have no fucking clue anymore. it was easy when it was just p3, p4 intels vs amd's athalon or w/e but now the how they name the processors confuse the hell out of me. cant tell whats good and whats bad except for looking at the price.

There are a few others I play like Diablo III and sky rim and my wayyyy outdated PC plays those perfect so I figured this setup would blow me away nearly

Check this thread I made a while back asking for help with mine. Tons of great input from the community.

Just did a full AMD build including graphics and have 0 regrets, and shaved about 800 off budget.
