I think I would prefer for the server to loop. If it sits at Velious it WILL die. Because it's easy to say "people should just re roll", but if you look at an entire server population, eventually the majority of it will be high end, which will create the same problem there is in EQ > heavy high end, and almost no middle and bottom to group with.

But then again, maybe it's easier for me to say that because my main is 43. I'm sure it would be hard for someone with 3 or 4 capped raid geared chars to just let them vanish. But it would create a culture of legendary characters. It could almost be seen as generations of characters. Where this sever actually moves in time, and those all characters have passed away, making room for new characters. Would be cool if the Devs could code in some homage to high achieving characters on the server. Now i'm getting carried way haha

Cheers for the great post, I feel the same way!

You say that, but yet, there's the maximum available people sitting under phara dar spamming a /tar and javelin macro with like 9 hours left in window on the mob. Some people want it more than you can possibly imagine.

Gnomish Greetings Roth!

Yeah, you are not the only one. A group of friends & I played on live from 2000 - 2006ish when some left for other games. We tried to recapture the magic with EQ2, Vanguard, and other games but it just did not have the same feeling. At the time we thought, there would never be another 'EQ' like playing experience for the level of fun we had.

We have now been on the Project1999 server for over a year and the magic was recaptured. There is something about the original EQ and all of its quirks that makes the game like nothing else we have played together.

Welcome home!
