I don't even enjoy those stories for the main plot but just for the world building. Granted the main story is still pretty good in my opinion. Did them on audiobook as well, the reader wasn't very good.

Doing so now. =).. That Jon Snow theory.. I had always suspected it from book 1.. And here is the reason why. Ned is way to honorable to risk his honor sleeping around. The only way Ned would do so is to cover up some important sceme. It said clearly that Jon never favored Ned, but he did in fact favor his sister. I have had lots of crazy ideas on what could happen or could happen but the Author is in fact an asshole so I have been wrong several times before.

Not sure what to make of this, it certainly wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. Ashara could certainly be Quaithe, and while that would be interesting, I feel that he's steadily jumping to conclusions with even less evidence.

Do you recommend any of these threads which are particularly compelling? I was looking through a few of them, and many seem like troll bait or just baseless theories

Pretty much anything that /u/BryndenBfish responds to or better yet writes up himself is incredible in the sheer amount of detail included. This guy could write his thesis on ASOIAF across several majors.

i still think we will learn that Ashara is Septa Lemore. Lemore is described as being at least 40, beautiful, has an outgoing friendly personality, with brown hair, and stretch marks that would indicate she gave childbirth. this would also be why we arent ever told Lemore's eye color, as those purple eyes would be a dead give away, since they were previously described as a "haunting violet"
