That's your typical argument over increased exp, along the lines of "THIS IS HARD GO PLAY WOW" type shit.

It really doesn't make sense defining the game by grinding levels this brutally. We've all done it, it's skillless brainless "work" that you have to do before playing the game.

Especially on Red99, it's mostly solo work, and really doesn't define anything that's fun about the game or PVP.

Raid mobs, quest armor/items, PVP, planes I mean there's tons to do in the world at max level that is worth while and fun, that make it very different from Counter Strike, it's just a ridiculous argument.

There's nothing hard about grinding to max level, it just takes an insane amount of time, and has nothing really to do with what would make the game fun for people.

It's a fun nostalgic part of the game, but that's about it - you don't have to fight your way through all the pvp, you don't have to figure out difficult situations, you just have to be logged in doing mundane shit for hours and hours, I think I've already said that though.

EDIT : I should add, levelling/character building actually is a fun part of everquest, when it doesn't take your family being pissed at you, or your girlfriend leaving you amount of time etc.
Please do not generalize "your" with "go play wow". I do not support it nor do i say it.

I will say however that Everquest is what it is. Trying to reinvent it as some kind of new wave FPS defies what "Project 1999" was about. There has/will always be a grind. There has/will always be a dominant guild. There has/will always be winners and losers.

If you are looking for something other than what Everquest was designed for then i would suggest you get your like-mind friends together and make a emulated Everquest-Counter-Strike EMU and have fun!

Because by design Everquest will not change.

This is also why balancing some things Sony forgot about is also a good idea in this day and age.

For example, Trak teeth, T staffs, Golems wands, gate pots. They are classic, it won't make it WOW without them, they are just extremely abusable items that were overlooked back in the day.

It is not a slippery slope, it's called make it fun, and most of the answers are common sense that get trolled so hard by the fat community, mostly Nihilum unfortunately, that it gets clogged to shit, and then retards like Runlvlzero start spamming their stupidity, and we end up here.

Fun for who?

The few people that are so bored with the game that they invent new ways to try and make it fun?

Just because you are unhappy does not mean the community/project is. If you want the perfect server then download the compiles and build your very own server with your own designs.

There are enough of you to pull it together and make it exactly what you are looking for.

But leave Classic Project 1999 blue/red as it was...alot of people still enjoy it.

Play or don't. No need to manufacture new ways to play Everquest. It is what it is, and if you don't like simply play another game or on a custom server. Not to say small concessions can't be made, but if your idea is to fundamentally change the game, just spare the rest of us from having to listen to your dribble and go find something else to do.

29 people showed up for the SK/Cleric BOTB. Server hasn't been over 200 people in months, maybe a small spike with that 300% exp bonus? Imagine that.

There is such a small % of people who enjoy the classic feel of everquest on red99, and it's usually losers with a massive playtime, making the grind really mean nothing one way or the other and just defend their Nihilum stance of "everything is fine" even though it isn't, in any way fine or fun.

Supreme isn't a no lifer, infact he never played since the beginning of the box. I saw him briefly around in classic, and in Kunark a few times on his necro.

Funny facts about Supreme, he made a necro so it was easy to level. And he took heat in teamspeak several times over his inability to neckbeard due to RL reasons.

Supreme was unable basically to play the game because he had a family, and commitments. I don't like any of that to decide if someone can play here, it shouldn't take 500 hours to get to max level, it's insane.

But whatevs, I don't imagine GM'S will budge on it - but I can't imagine anyone playing here, if a big part of their game is grinding and grouping. Blue has 1k+ players a night, with groups in every zone. If that was a main attraction for you, you wouldn't have picked red99 anyway, since it's mostly solo, and reflects nothing of what EQ was back in the day, or should be.

Destin's "go play somewhere else" line is actually what has happened to red99, everyone has gone to play somewhere else, and it's shit. So stop saying everything is good and go play somewhere else, it's already happened.

I played Red99 since day 1 when box opened (remember Supremex and to this day everyone says i am Mexican?)

And I quit Everquest because there are just better things to do than grind pixels. Like finish a PHD, have kids and grow the fuck up.

But as with all my pals if they want to play EQ all day and all night i am definitely here to support that.

First I saw of you was in SK soloing gnolls on my mage man - that was after the Naggy ban.

First time I encountered you in pvp I had to train you in sola, and then killed you in solb as a lowbie due to no level range.

You may have been around, but you have never really been around, which is the entire point of our side of the argument.

Insta 60 is not required, free item vendors are not required, infact not even mentioning loot drops/raids - just that it doesn't take more time than most people have for the target audience/age group. A lot of people have careers/families, if they can only log on 2-3 days a week for a few hours, you can guarantee it will be spent grinding, solo, and probably never reach max level or be a part of the fun/contribute to it at least on Red99.

The no lifers, like stated before that want to play all day and night, don't care they have the time - and they are obviously anti- anything that doesn't support neckbearders advantage.

I don't believe changing exp rate makes things custom, as long as it isn't take out of control. Levelling is work most people hate doing, but it allows an advantage for people that like to create a buffer between them and the masses simply by having more playtime.

But like I said, GM'S won't consider this - and maybe teams will make casuals have fun during the mid/low range, and avoid the end game altogether.
