fuck me...over 2 years until the next election in the USA, but people talking already about it like its happening next month.

Think someone explained to me once that the elections in USA starts so early because its so big, and candidates trying to beg/collect as much money as they can for 2years+, so they can place millions of signs and make anti-advertising about their rivals.

The US is never out of an election cycle. The instant an election happens the media is already discussing the next election. I'd compare it to sports teams like the NFL and MLB. There is an appetite in America for sports style political news to go along with the sports cycle. The media is for-profit, so there is no incentive to not cover the next election as soon as possible. It is in their best interest to cover the possibilities of the next election as early and as often as possible.

You are correct that fund-raising is a major part of the American political system.

The President also engages in fund-raising activities while in office.

My parents met with VP Pence shortly before he was recalled to Washington for the Syrian chemical weapons crisis in fact. Of course he was not at liberty to discuss anything classified or sensitive, but interestingly enough there was a moment where he was asked about the Syrian abuses and what the US planned to do about it. He alluded that efforts were under way. I believe less than 48 hours later strikes hit.

I went to McDonald's this morning, had to go inside because the drive-thru was packed.

I wait in line, three people ahead of me.

All of a sudden, the guy in front of me steps forward, towards the girl in front of him in line.

"That's it!", I yelled. I began bashing this rapist in the back of the head. He crumbles, shielding his head as I'm wailing on him. People are screaming because they're shocked he tried to rape the girl in front of him.

I continue to bash this vile rapist until blood splatters all over the nearby Ronald McDonald mannequin.

After a few minutes, cops rush in. "Great, cuff this sexual predator" I think.

But no, they handcuff me?! WTF?? Why? I was attacking a rapist!
