there's a sweet spot with self segregation, rules but not censorship, community size, community self policing to keep post quality high and other factors that can make a digital spot pretty good where other places have turned to complete shit
it's like you favorite "hidden" bar or resturant also though and just like a popular food critic too much publicity can ruin it

Makes sense but also people often don't realize they're self segregating, cause it sounds bad, so they probably wouldn't do it if they realized what they were doing. They'd never characterize it that way. It's like an organic trap the internet sets and people fall into it like the matrix.
I've said before and I'll say again, you should proactively seek out content that you disagree with. Spend maybe 20% of your time checking in with whatever side of whatever thing you already agree with- basically just intellectual housekeeping. Spend the other 80% seeking out the other side. If you're confident in what you believe it shouldn't be a scary proposition. I've refined my thinking and learned so much by doing this.
