Default Human necromancers

How much worse off are they compared to iksar? I've tried to level an iksar but I really hate their run animation and looks, not to mention the xp penalty.

if you hate looking at iksar, dont play iksar

its not as optimal, not even close, but there are plenty of non iksar necros out there

Play what you'll love playing.

Iksar is optimal. Folks pay bank for Zlandi Hearts and Aura of Battle items just to get a a bit of regen on their necros. Iksar get a good bit of it by just being that race.

Also keep in mind that from 34 on, you'll likely be in skeleton form the majority of the time (especially if you're an iksar since it's easier to sit in skelly form full time without risking liching to death).

EQ is a 25 year old game though. Play what you'll love playing. You don't need to be optimal to have a fun time experiencing Norrath.

You'll be fine. For leveling, especially pre 50the xp penalty easily makes up for the regen difference. A lot ot necrosis like to afk dad camp guards, and race makes no difference there.
They are less optimal, but as stated you'll be completely fine.

Erudite is the best non-Iksar race, but Humans are rare and very fashionable.

You’ll be in skeleton form most of the time anyways

It makes me question my decision to have invested in netted kelp armor because I never see myself anyways lol

I feel the same way about Druids on wow. Their appearance doesn’t matter when they are in cat form the entire time

@ OP - if I were going anything but Iksar necro it would definitely be gnome for wall hacks.

worse off not just because of the regen - but iksar also get most of their spells in cabilis. other races have to run around to various zones to collect spells
