Was really hoping for no merge or at least only characters.

I didn't want green to just feel like a big farming session for blue. It's not the end of the world or anything, it just changes the dynamic for both servers in a disappointing way. I'm not personally invested in legacy items beyond one set of beads and a pre-nerf CoS, and I'm not planning on selling either so their value isn't a big concern to me, but I feel bad for people who put in a ton of work to buy things like fungus staves and manastones when staff have always maintained these items will never drop on blue again; which is no longer true in a round about way. I know 4 years is quite a bit of time, but just blowing off that all that effort doesn't sit well with me, either. I know a lot of "have nots" won't empathize with the "haves" on this one, but I thought it was always kinda cool there was some prestige to having some legacy items, especially guise, from the times past or GM events, even if I didn't have one.

Probably a lot of the legacy items on Blue will be retired before the server merges anyway. Probably not a huge net gain of active Manastones, CoS, and HEBs compared to what is active now. The tradeable warder loot and one off items like Ton Po's will be interesting, though.

The merger won't be happening until sometime in 2023, which is 4 years from now. Who knows how many people will still be playing 4 years from now?

Personal preference (and I do stress personal), is that any legacy items (including things from Velious like HEBs) become no-drop upon merge.

Things already no-drop such as guise would be restricted to Old World (no Kunark, Velious).

This is a decent solution, I personally don't want legacy items transferred in at all, but making them no drop would be better than nothing.

Very cheesy that Guises will be owned by characters brought to blue who are 10 or 11 years newer than characters native to blue that had/have no opportunity to ever get because they joined 8 months or so after the blue server was initially created. Max cheese factor and just a terrible idea.

Yes ... if your assessment of "cheese", and good or bad ideas, is based on whether your Blue-created (but after Classic era) character can get a Guise or Manastone.

On the other hand, if you care about ... you know ... the entire rest of the game ... then the tiny tiny detail of whether your Blue character, who "grew up" on a server with unclassic benefits, can ever get a classic pre-nerfed item, and only the players who "put in the effort" in a hard/classic environment can ... is of almost no significance.

Keep it on that hard/classic environment then. Pretty simple.

Blue's going to be pretty irrelevant after Green comes out. They may as well make it a fun-server.
