What is the playable area in Everquest?

To determine size, I looked at the max/min on both X & Y coordinates, and then taking the difference (and being careful with the +/- signs). For Overthere, X difference is 34391 and Y difference is 16299 = 560538909 ft^2 or 20.1 miles^2.

Widest zones:
#1 The Iceclad Ocean - 34391 ft
#2 Ocean of Tears - 6748 ft
#3 The Dreadlands - 16504 ft
#4 Western Plains of Karana - 16170 ft
#5 Timorous Deep - 13841 ft

Tallest zones:
#1 Timorous Deep - 23124 ft
#2 The Iceclad Ocean - 16299 ft
#3 The Overthere - 15732 ft
#4 Firiona Vie - 14045 ft
#5 Scorched Woods - 12896 ft

Last edit: I think the fact almost half of all of EQ1's area was developed between 1999 and 2001 says a lot about the change in quality of an "expansion" after classic. I think it speaks in its own way of what us on p99 actually love about that era.

I can't imagine OT 20.1 miles^2 big.
I mean, run through it, it does not feel like 4x5miles ?
if you run around OT, it is 18 miles then
A marathon is 26.219 miles. The world record for this is about 2 hours.
I say you can run around OT in less then 1 hour.

It just feels not like that big.

turn off run accelerates and then actually turn off run and walk OT. see if you think it feels like 4 miles.
