I played back in classic as a human cleric, things were dark but I could always see things. Never had to hack my gamma to play.
I don't think OP realizes that your monitor can have a big impact on this. Just because OP had a shitty monitor in '99 doesn't mean, that 'being completely blind' was classic. | ||

This post is just a little bit annoying, right after us clamoring for a gamma rollback and getting it. Nonetheless I understand why the OP made it. He still wants to see classic darkness for those races who are not supposed to be able to see at night.
I'd say most of us would agree. However, this gamma adjustment, while being a nice try to give us just that, was a bit of a work-around, and did not in fact work out for lots of folks. In addition to being too dark, neither infra vision nor ultra vision was working properly. Bottom line, the gamma approach was a good try but does quite do what everyone wants. So, we'll have to wait until a different approach can be attempted.
