I considered deleting everything and trying again but I'd rather not have to do that again. Maybe the EQemu launcher is broken somehow?

well i thought the same thing. So reinstalled it. Then I downloaded and used Duxas. No have worked. Rebooted routed. Killed all firewalls nothing. I mean it just happened out of nowhere in the course of like a 4-5 hour period. I was on earlier. Logged off. And tried to log in and got all this. sigh......

Fix :
I did a full re-install but it may not be needed, however the problem appears to be with EQ emulator launcher. So once you have unzipped the new patch into your everquest directory and replaced the old files, simply use the eqgame icon to open EQ and the select P99. Heres a copy/paste of some info that may help if you havent set up your eqgame file to go the the emulator :
EverQuest Titanium Private Server Setup: How To

1.) Go to Run Type in "%HOMEDRIVE%Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqhost.txt"
Without the Quotes

2.) Now Modify the file to look like.

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

Goto File, Save and close the File now.

3. Now Modifying the EverQuest Shortcut.

Right Click the EverQuest Shortcut the Install Made. Goto: Properties

Now Change Target

From: "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\EverQuest.exe"
To: "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme -w

Click Ok Button.

That is it for getting on, now you need a login server account.

Hopefully that helps solve it for the rest of you

Same issue, when I bypass it the servers shows human characters and my that my spells are outdated but I was playing just fine about two hours ago. Nothing has changed since then, everything has suggest hasn't worked. I haven't attempted a full re-install though.

No point reinstalling anything or changing anything as it's obviously an issue elsewhere as everyone i know is getting the same error messages.

"Loading serverlist ...
Could not reach webserver. Trying again in 10 seconds."

It's also being reported at the EQEmu site, the login server is under a DDoS attack apparently.

guys... seriously.

theres a FAQ for this stuff.

But since so mnay of you are having problems, here's what you need to do.

IF YOU CAN'T EXTRACT THE PATCH INTO YOUR EQ FOLDER:
Instead, extract them to your desktop, then copy them into your eq folder. This will give you the most recent patch files and you will no longer need to use the eq emu launcher to set them up for you each time you start up.

ONCE YOU HAVE THE FILES IN YOUR EQ FOLDER:

Go to your everquest folder and open eqhost.txt
Delete all the text in this file, replace it with this:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

AFTER MODIFYING YOUR EQHOST.TXT FILE:
Make a shortcut for EQGAME.EXE on your desktop. Do this by going to your everquest folder, finding the file, right clicking and going to send to -> desktop(Create shortcut).

RIght click your desktop shortcut and add -patchme to the end of the TARGET line. YOU MUST DO THIS IN ORDER TO RUN EQ. it should look something like this:
c:\program files\everquest\eqgame.exe -patchme

OPEN YOUR SHORTCUT AND LOG IN.

This is NOT an issue with the login server. This is an issue with the eqemu launcher. I prefer not to use the launcher at all because it has this issue too often.

By the way. All of this info is already up on the FAQ.

Have fun and you're welcome.

have you read the FAQ lately? no? that's what i thought.

it explicitly states to use the patcher. it no longer contains a link directly to the most recent files.

sorry, you're wrong.

maybe if you took the time to be helpful instead of just bashing random users on the forum...

He WROTE the FAQ and he updates it frequently.

You on the other hand, posted for help and became a smart ass very quickly.

Gotrocks, remove the link and actually post his instructions since people can't figure out where to find the spell files. He did modify his instructions to include

As of this post, we are on v28, found . http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv28.zip if this post is out of date, just update "28" with the current number)
Here is the newest:

1) Default install of EQ: Titanium (other clients will NOT work). Copy/pasting the EQ folder from another install works just fine here. (For consistency, I'm going to assume you installed EQ to C:\Everquest so that the eqgame.exe path is C:\Everquest\eqgame.exe.)
2) Right-click on the eqgame.exe icon within your everquest folder, select Create Shortcut.
3) Right-click on the Shortcut to eqgame.exe you created in step (2). Select Properties.
4) In the Properties menu that appears, edit the target line to say
"C:\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme. The quotes are only needed around the destination string if it contains spaces. Select Apply and then OK to close the properties box.
5) Open the C:\Everquest\eqhost.txt file in the text editor of your choice.
6) Delete whatever is in the eqhost.txt file and replace it with the following two lines:
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998

7) Save and close the eqhost.txt file.
8) Download the latest eqchangesvXX.zip file from the patch notes. As of this post, we are on v29, found . http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv29.zip (if this post is out of date, just update "29" with the current number)
9) Extract the eqchangesvXX.zip file into the C:\Everquest directory, overwriting any files it asks for.
10) Within the C:\Everquest directory, delete the following files to allow these updated zones to function properly on P99:
arena.eqg
arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
lavastorm.eqg
nektulos.eqg
Nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt

11) Log into the server with the account you created at EQEmulator.org.
12) Select Project1999: The Ruins of Kunark from the server list.
13) Enjoy playing on P99.

maybe you missed all of his insulting and passive aggressive posts. i don't understand why people would look past his posts and yet call other people names when they point out just how much of a self-centered asshole he is.
