You can try our wiki guide which will break down each class. I know my Druid and mage parts on the wiki tell me the spells which I can buy, and then I use EQ Zam to figure out which NPC will sell the spell.

Basically, just start grinding mobs and exploring. Not much of a direction to head in. Just pick up your sword or staff, memorize your favorite spell, and slash/blast away those pesky pests.
