magic items can't be pick pocketed. that's basically it.

hitting undead/breaking runes requires magic weapon/shield/shoulders/hands/boots where applicable, but that's secondary to the pick pocketing

for example, vox bag used to not be magic, so when pop hit and rogues had shroud of stealth, they were stealing it off of her. bag got nerfed.
