![]() Hello everyone this is my first post here so apologies if I am doing something wrong. I recently downloaded eq1999 on my steam deck following a guide I found on this site. I believe I have done everything correctly, I have the Launch Titanium bat in my non steam games menu, and it opens just fine, I created my login account and logged in for the first time, the server list is completely empty, I fear I may have installed something wrong, any thoughts?

![]() This is a known issue on P99 (that isn't even exclusive to Linux); I believe it was introduced when Rogean had to strengthen the server's protections (after some asshole bitter player started DDOSing them awhile back).
Things you can try: * switch your computer to use your phone's Internet (via a "hotspot" feature); even if this isn't a long-term fix, it will confirm that the problem is your network (if it works) * get a VPN (they're only like $3/month, but I think some have free trials so you could check if they help without paying) * https://github.com/Zaela/p99-login-middlemand - this is an open source program a P99 player made which has helped a lot of people I'm a Linux user myself, and P99 works without the above for me (now; at one point in the past I used to need the above) ... but I haven't installed it on my Steam Deck yet, so if the problem is specific to it I can't help.

![]() That's interesting. I'd think classic EQ would be VERY difficult to play on a steam deck, unless you can hook it up to a large display, keyboard, and mouse. Maybe that's the plan?

![]() You want a program called middleman. Few threads up mentions it currently

![]() Middleman / https://github.com/Zaela/p99-login-middlemand will require build tools to be installed and that's a bit difficult on the steam deck.
Checkout this tool instead. It's built with the Steam Deck in mind and the README.md has step by step instructions on how to set it up. https://github.com/rtrajano/p99_login_helper | ||

![]() I just start it repeatedly. It seems to have like a 25% chance of working so it eventually populates the list; at least for me.

![]() Then I would try middle man if you can compile it, it works every time for me
